We met early in our college days at TCU. Within minutes of meeting, we discovered that we both lived on the same floor in our dorm, were both Business majors, and even went to the same childhood summer camp in Spirit Lake, Iowa. We stayed friends throughout our freshman and sophomore years before our journey together began in the summer of 2012. Over the last 10 years, we have graduated college together, grown professionally within our careers, traveled the world, moved cities, and bought our first home. Within a decade full of changes, one thing that always remained the same is the love we have for each other.
The proposal happened last July on the same weekend as our upcoming wedding day (brilliant move by Jeff, only having to remember one date for the wedding and engagement). Jeff knew that for the proposal Jordann only wanted 2 things: to somehow be surprised and for it to be just the two of them. The day of, Jordann and Jeff were headed to Chicago’s Adler Planetarium for a silent auction event hosted by her friend Jessica's high school alumni organization. That night, they hurried to change after work and headed downtown. As they got out of the car and started to head into the building, Jeff suggested to take a selfie in front of the skyline. As Jordann turned around to take the photo, Jeff was already down on one knee and the first thing he said was "gotcha!” Still recovering from the shock that the entire "alumni event" was fake, Jeff took Jordann to her favorite rooftop restaurant in the West Loop, celebrated with drinks at a speakeasy and talked about how excited they were for the future. It was safe to say Jeff had pulled off the perfect proposal.
