In the fall of 2015, Tara was living in Greensboro, NC, with a close friend, Dan Briggs. Dan plays in a band called Between the Buried and Me, and Jeff had just been hired to work for them. Before the tour began, Dan invited Jeff to crash at their house — and that's when Tara and Jeff met for the first time. They chatted, became Instagram friends... and that was it for a while. Fast forward to 2020: when distance no longer mattered during the pandemic, Tara and Jeff reconnected through social media and eventually started texting. In the summer of 2021, when Brothers Osborne played a show in Raleigh, Tara and a friend went to the concert — and sparks flew. That night, Tara and Jeff shared their first kiss. A few weeks later, Jeff came to visit Tara in North Carolina for the first time. Soon, visits became a regular thing, and by December 2021, they officially became a couple. They spent the next few years traveling back and forth between Nashville and Greensboro, and meeting each other in different parts of the country (and the world!). So when Jeff asked Tara to meet him in New York City for a few days around Christmas, she packed her bags. On Friday the 13th of December, after meeting up with Tara’s best friend from high school, Megan, they spent the evening exploring the city. Jeff mentioned wanting to see the Rockefeller Christmas Tree so they made their way there. Despite the crowds, a spot opened up near the tree, and Megan (who had no idea what was about to happen) offered to take a photo of them. Tara and Jeff have a little tradition where they ask each other, "Do you love me?" So when Jeff asked, Tara smiled and said "I love you!," still posing for the camera. When he asked, "Forever?" she answered "Forever," without a second thought — until Jeff reached into his pocket, got down on one knee, and with a huge grin said, "Then will you marry me?" Tara said "Yes!," the crowd cheered, and just like that, the next chapter of their story began.
