Downtown Springfield is a true college downtown full of craft breweries, cocktail bars, and excellent restaurants! And, of course, home to the Springfield Cardinals, Drury Panthers, and MSU Bears! It is a short drive from the ceremony location and about a 20 minute drive from the reception. This revitalized area features many unique shops, restaurants, and bars and features an open-air market on the weekends. (C-street city market). When Catherine’s grandparents first moved to Springfield, her grandfather worked for the railroad along C-street. Mark, her dad, even worked as a janitor at the Frisco rail site to earn some cash in high school. We recommend walking the street and stopping into any of the locations, but some of our favorites are: -Café Cusco -Pizza House -Hakaar's Bazaar- a mid-century modern thrift store and furniture store -Askinose Chocolate- a world-renowned local chocolatier -Big Mommas Coffee Shop -Historic Lindbergh’s Tavern- one of the oldest pubs in Springfield If you are interested in a unique stay in Springfield, a boutique six-room hotel called Culture Boutique Hotel. They do not take room blocks, but you are welcome to book yourself a room.
This is our backyard! Catherine lived in an apartment on Lone Pine when she decided to stay in Springfield forever. We spend most of our time enjoying the restaurants and trails in this neighborhood. We love Sequiota Park and the Galloway trail! It is a great place to walk and even explore some Ozark caves! -Great Escape Brewery -4 x 4 Brewery -Galloway Grill Bar and Grill -Kingdom Coffee
This quaint neighborhood is home to some of the oldest houses in Springfield, and the neighborhood where we had our first date! Makes a good place for a walk and exploration of Springfield’s history! -Counter Culture- the best juice and smoothies in town! -Tie and Timber Brewing- where we had our first date, really good live music and craft beer. -Team Taco There are several other restaurants, shops, wine bars and coffee shops.
Our room block hotel is located in this area! It is a short drive/ Uber from the reception venue. -Aviary Café - delicious crepe restaurant, great for brunch or lunch! Progress- this is the more upscale restaurant if you are looking for a fine dining experience. We recommend getting a reservation if you want to go here! They also have a nice patio and excellent craft cocktails. There will be a bustling farmers' market featuring local vendors on the weekend. You can access the Springfield Nature Center, and trails from farmers park if you are interested in a walk or run!
If you are coming into town for a long weekend and want to explore further or get a round of golf, here are some Springfield Destination Spots: Wonders of Wildlife Springfield is not only the home of the flagship Bass Pro location but also a world-renowned aquarium- enjoy this gem! Big Cedar Lodge A Stunning Ozarks Oasis! A great place for a lovely glass of wine at the wine cave, a round of world-famous golf, a boating trip, or even try your hand at fishing! Tee Times for golf can be hard to come by and release one month ahead of time, be sure to book early. Catherine and Jeff love getting 13 holes in at the par 3 courses, Mountain Top! Dogwood Canyon Stunning opportunities to see fall colors including horseback rides, bike rides, and walks- about 1.5 hours from Springfield The Springfield Public Golf Courses are all very nice, but Catherine and Jeff love playing at Horton Smith. It is also across the street from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, where Catherine works!
