How We Met

8.29.2005

Jackie: It was the very first day of our very first year of college. I left to go to my very first class, which happened to be University Studies 101 (a class for people who have not declared a major). We played a stupid name game where we went around the room and introduced ourselves, and the minute it was Jeff's turn I knew there was something a little special about him. I went back to my dorm room where my roommate Marisa asked how my first-ever class went. I nonchalantly told her, "It was good, I met the guy I'm going to marry" and shrugged my shoulders. I guess as they say... 'the rest is history.' Oh yeah, and I may have ended up winning him over by stumbling to his dorm room and forcing him to play Nintendo with me at ridiculous hours of the night. It was love at first Nintendo... What a lucky guy! Hah

The Proposal

3.10.19

Jeff: One of our favorite hobbies is travel. Foreign countries are our favorite and what better way to ask the girl of my dreams to marry me than on the most epic travel adventure we have been on together. A 3 week vacation visiting Fiji, New Zealand, and Australia. I had originally planned on proposing to Jackie during our time in New Zealand but our trip to Fiji was absolutely magical and waking up to a double rainbow in our own private hut on the ocean was an opportunity I just could not pass up. From the time I was a boy my mother has always told me that rainbows are a sign of my late father. On the day of his funeral a rainbow appeared out of nowhere with no rain and since then have always been considered a sign from my father. My Uncle Harvey would often tell the story of when I was a little boy and we drove 100’s of miles to our paddle fishing grounds with a rainbow on the hood. I figured this time my Dad was just telling me to get off my butt and marry this girl :). So that morning in Fiji I finally asked Jackie to marry me. Neither one of us is certain or can remember if she even said yes, haha! Our parents have been very loving and patient with us over the years and we could not thank them enough for their support. The engagement ring that Jackie wears was designed just for her and features a rare Montana Yogo Sapphire instead of a diamond. This stone has become a tradition amongst the ladies in Jackie’s family and her sister, sister-in-law, and mother all have wedding rings featuring the Montana Yogo Sapphire.
