Richard Horner

Best Man

A man I’m proud to call my father. His dedication to family and country make him a true role model. He worked tirelessly running a family business for 35 years which provided me with more opportunity than I could ask for. Dad taking the family on beach trips to Litchfield, weekend days on South Holston Lake boating, sending us to Camp Carolina/scout Camp, and hiking and exploring the mountains of Western Carolina - all have laid a foundation of who I am today. His teachings of respect, self-discipline, finance management and integrity are values that I will hopefully pass on to my children.

Hope Lumpkin Bergquist

Maid of Honor

Ah my little sister! The one who has known me since I was 18 months old and who grew up beside me - always smelling of sweet sticky maple syrup (that girl looovvvedd syrup!!) We have had countless conversations about life, relationships, husbands and family. She is one of the most loyal, caring, thoughtful people I have ever known. I am so incredibly proud of the woman she is, the mother she is already becoming and to introduce her as my MOH! Hope lives in Alexandria, VA with her husband David and their precious baby on the way!!

Rob Bressler

Groomsman

Childhood Bristol friend, fellow concert goer, incredible cook, foodie, craft beer connoisseur, fly-fisherman and music fanatic. Rob and I have seen countless concerts together and share a passion for the craft beer industry. He has lived in Charleston, Columbia, Philadelphia, Greenville and now Asheville, and engulfed himself into each of the cities food and culture, so he is about as well rounded as they come.

Meredith Crawford

Bridesmaid

I remember meeting Mere first day of highschool - sat next to her in crazy Ms. Abrahamson's class and I knew I wanted to hang with this girl! Ah I wouldn't even know where to begin... from highschool adventures to backpacking around Costa Rica to being roomies in Asheville post-college- we grew up together with rarely ever a dull moment! Countless spontaneous dance parties, absurd and hilarious late nights, road trips, always a shoulder to cry on and oh so many laughs! Life would not be the same without you Mere! Meredith lives in Summerville with her husband Mikey and their son Boone.

Frank Goodpasture

Groomsman

The Goodpasture and Horner’s friendship goes back three generations. Frank and I grew up in the same neighborhood and had countless neighborhood football, basketball, capture the flag games and got into anything mischievous you can think of. We lived together in Maui where he resided 8 years. He and I surf together as often as the ocean and our lives allow. He lives in Abingdon, VA with his wife, Lizzie, and their to children Frank and Brady.

Laura Romp Rodier

Bridesmaid

This special lady was one of my very first friends after our move to Summerville. From 8th grade through highschool we were inseparable! We shared many a class, every single weekend together and every road trip adventure we could convince our parents to let us go on to see our favorite bands! More recently, in the last 13 years I have been honored to share in the most wonderful adventure of watching Laura be a mom to her most amazing son Owen. Love this family oh so much! Laura lives in Spartanburg with her partner Jason and their son Owen.

Josh Hill

Groomsman

App. State friend, roommate and overall life coach. Josh grew up on a farm in Brevard, NC and is a world class whitewater kayaker, snowboarder and climber. He and I logged many hours together in Boone exploring the mountains and share a passion for similar music. He and his wife, Lori, currently live in Truckee, CA but we hope they’ll be back in the southeast soon.

Amy Vaden

Bridesmaid

One of my absolute dearest besties from Sewanee college days! I remember hanging w Amy and my folks one weekend on The Mountain and my mom saying "you all are gonna be in each other's weddings one day!" And 23 years later here we are!! Amy and I met freshman year and then whisked away to Colorado to live that summer. We hiked, we camped, we saw great music, met great people, and we worked a little too :) That summer laid a helluva foundation for a friendship that has continued to thrive through the years. Amy lives in Asheville with her husband Blake and their sons Gauge and Sawyer.

Tim Ilderton

Groomsman

First friend to meet at App. St in our Jazz in American Society class. We shared a healthy competition in musical tastes for a couple years, until I eventually succumbed to his likings. We both lived in Asheville in the mid 2000’s, but now he resides in High Point raising two beautiful children, Ella and Ace. Tim is about as much fun as anyone you’ll ever meet and you couldn’t ask for a better friend.

Katherine Lumpkin-Leech

Bridesmaid

A best friend AND a cousin?!?! I believe I first met Katherine when I was 6 months old at our first of a lifetime of Lumpkin Edisto Family Reunions. She living in New Mexico and I in South Carolina - and thanks to these reunions we still grew up together! Grew up besties and sharing a love of family and beach and boat rides! She is a fellow physician and fortunately now a fellow South Carolinian! She lives in Greenville with her husband Nate and their son, Cody.

Andrew Blair

Groomsman

Andrew and I have been playing together since nearly the day we were born. Foodie, financial advisor, music lover and ultimate host for all of my New York visits over the years. As kids we partnered up for Disney World, beach trips, sports camp, neighborhood shenanigans, concerts, you name it. He lives in a beautiful neighborhood, Park Slope, in Brooklyn with his wife, Anne, and their two incredible children Michael and Caroline (CC).

Ann Odom

Bridesmaid

Another Sewanee bestie, however it was really after Sewanee, living in Asheville when Ann and I became so close. We both lived in West Asheville and had a shared love of Sewanee, West Asheville live music and bars and Haiti! One day we were sitting around talking about Haiti and Paul Farmer and within months we were on our way to share our first week in Haiti together! It broke our hearts and inspired our souls and was so special to share with this amazing woman. Then the adventures continued, driving cross-country with Ann and her beloved Boris, the beagle, to move her to Portland! Fortunately, she felt the pull back to the Southeast where she gets down to the beach every chance she can. Ann lives in Asheville with her husband Jeremy and their 2 children Georgia and Hal.

Jim Wynn

Groomsman

Jim and I met freshman year at App. and later lived in Asheville together for several years. We rode many miles of mountain bike trails while there and have so many great memories together. He has collected more music than anyone I know, most of which he will never get to listening to. He is recently engaged to Jane and they live in Kansas City.

Melissa McShane

Bridesmaid

What do you hope for on your first day of residency in the ICU?? 7 codes?? or meeting one of your future best friends?? ...Well I got both! When Mel walked into that work room I was so excited to A) know I have a co-tern and B) meet an amazing woman, who lived in the same apartments that I did AND shared a love of craft beer! Our friendship was instantaneous and absolutely KEY to me surviving and thriving in residency! The long call shifts, the drama and chaos of working in the hospital, and the host of emotions that go along with being a resident were always quickly soothed and mitigated by a good run, a beautiful hike or a Beer Run sesh with Mel! Melissa lives in Philadelphia (completing her Hem/Onc Fellowship) with her husband Kevin and their son Cian.

Cary Horner

Groomsman

Cary, my older brother, is one of the more unique guys I know. He has had a life long passion of all things music and currently has a recording studio, that he owns, set up in his basement in Murfreesboro, TN. He is a foodie and craft beer enthusiast, and stays dialed in to the Nashville and Asheville food and music scene. In the past few years he has become an avid cyclist and dedicates most of his free time to the sport.

Stephanie Hodges

Bridesmaid

I met Stephanie during UVA residency orientation and I knew immediately that Residency was going to be just fine after all! I loved her right away, and she and her husband Jon were instantaneously not only my fellow Family Medicine residents, they were family! We worked together, we explored all the local breweries together, we spent every Monday night together (guiltlessly watching The Bachelor or Bachelorette), we even got our puppies on the same day and got to watch them grow up together! Stephanie lives in Seattle with her husband Jon and their daughter Cooper and pup Max.

Scott Brevda

Groomsman

Scott and I go back to Boone. He is one of the most talented and creative people I know and has taken a family business to award winning standards. He and I kayaked together in Boone, fly fished, worked in the same restaurant and lived in a small cabin deep in the woods for a year. His passion for coastal fishing is contagious and he has a boat in Moorhead City that they take frequently offshore.
