Travel Information

The Wedding Website of Jazz Unruh and Nico Mendez Cossio
From Lima to Pachacamac, we are using marriage as an excuse to go on vacation with our friends! We will be staying in a neighborhood outside of Miraflores at Nico’s family home for the wedding- then we will be honeymooning in Brazil! Stay in Lima as long as you like, or take a quick flight to Macchu Pichu; whatever you choose to do, we encourage you to explore Peru! For safety and convenience, we encourage everyone to stay in: Barranco- Lima’s artistic, bohemian district! If you like historical architecture, boutique hotels and hostels, artisan shopping and ocean views, stay here! Miraflores- Lima’s cosmopolitan district! If you like upscale establishments, trendy dining experiences, and your favorite hotel (Hilton, Marriott, etc) snatch those credit card points and stay here! There are, of course, plenty of private apartments on Blue Pillow and Air BNB in both locations, as well as affordable and safe hostels. Here are some recommendations!

Travel Note

Flights, Transportation, and Safety

Your arrival date range here is January 6th-January 9th- comfortably, you’ll want to be in Lima and settled by the morning of the 9th. Avianca and Latam are our favorite airlines, and make sure you review the customs requirements before booking a flight with a layover (for example, with a one hour layover, you will not get through customs in time in the Colombian airport… trust us. We learned the hard way.) if you’ve got a favorite airline, or a points card, fly to Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport. Please DO NOT leave the airport to call a taxi. You will want to go to a taxi stand inside of the airport. Once in Lima, stick to Uber- it’s safer, and it is super affordable. You will be paying in Peruvian Soles, which is 3.65 soles to one dollar. The ride from the airport can take 45 minutes to an hour 30. Unfortunately, the politics in Peru over the years has created a strong class divide. If this is your first time visiting a country like this, please be kind and careful. Try not to be on your phone too much in or around the airport. When you are driving through the neighborhoods that surround the airports please do not roll down your windows (for pollution) and lock your doors. It is likely your uber will be driving like a maniac. Don’t worry- they know what they’re doing.
