HOW WE MET...AT A CAR WASH!

First comes school, then comes marriage

Jazmin's memory: I remember feeling overly anxious, and distracted the day I met Travish. I was a second year dental student preparing for my Part I Dental National Board exam. I had also recently lost my childhood dog of 15 years, Asha. It was a late Saturday morning, and I had just ran my car through the car wash. I pulled out of the drying station to park and clean my wheels. Speeding per usual, I literally almost hit Travish as he was walking across the parking lot with items to clean his car in his hands. Embarrassed, I got out the car to apologize, then parked right next to him. He was tall, dark, and handsome with the most beautiful smile. I proceeded to clean my wheels, and heard him say, "You know you're cleaning your wheels with the wrong solution, right?" I chuckled, and replied, "I got this, thank you." We began chatting, and I asked rhetorical questions, like if he played football at East Carolina University (he was wearing an ECU football hoodie) to keep conversation. I learned we were both from the small town of Clemmons, NC, and just couldn't believe we'd never met while having mutual friends. With notable similar interests, I asked for his contact information. He looked at me puzzled, but we did exchange numbers. I remember arriving to ECU dental school to study, and telling my Maid of Honor, Bri, that I had just met this really attractive guy at the car wash and that I hoped to see him again. To my surprise, we went on a date that night to see a Tyler Perry movie (that we both agreed was trash). I remember meeting him at the car wash in glasses, workout clothes, and a messy bun. I showed up to that movie night in makeup, hair curled, and heels! I guess that did the trick, because here we are! Travish completes me, and he's truly my best friend. We find ways to laugh everyday, as we've learned that can be the best medicine. God placed Travish in my life as I was pursuing my dreams to become a dentist, and because of his unwavering support, I am who I am and where I am today. He's been my biggest cheerleader through sickness and health. I met my husband-to-be at a car wash! We're living proof that love can happen when and where you least expect it. Travish's memory: It was a typical Saturday, and I had decided to wash my car a day early against my Sunday routine. I was headed back across the parking lot with items to wash my wheels, when out of no where this black Mercedes Benz comes speeding my direction to park, nearly robbing me of my life! Then this distressed and obviously embarrassed tall black female hops out her car and immediately apologizes. She proceeds to park next to me, and I observed her cleaning her car. I glanced over and noticed and that she was using the wrong cleaning spray for her rims. Me, being the car fanatic that I am, called over to her and said, "You know you're cleaning your tires with the wrong solution, right?" Now, I know for a fact she was using Windex, but if you ask Jazmin, she'll deny it. We learned in that moment that we were from the same small town, with shared interests in dentistry (I eventually went to Business school and left the dentistry to her). She proceeded to ask for my "contact information" to connect later as if that didn't show her age. Jazmin said she had to study for her dental boards that day for another 10 hrs or so, but that we could touch base later on. I called my mother that evening, and told her I had met an older woman that I was interested in. She advised a simple movie night. I treated Jazmin to a movie later that same evening, intentionally telling her the movie was at an earlier time, so we could spend the first hour talking and getting to know one another. The rest is history. I knew she was special from the moment we met, and I soon learned I didn't want to spend a waking (or sleeping) moment without her. I really met the love of my life at the car wash!
