How We Met

08/16/2020

Terrence and I technically met through a mutual friend. As Danielle, Gabby, and I were having girl talk after a day of brunching through Baltimore, Gabby had this “aha” moment and decided to show me Terrence’s Instagram. I perused his 32 pictures, thought he was cute, saw that he loved his mom, his cat, Cosmo, football, and weird memes but saw no red flags, so she called him and asked if he was interested in dating. He said sure, so Gabby sent over my Instagram (gotta keep it casual, lol) and I’d loved to say the rest is history, but unfortunately y’all boy was playing hard to get. Later that night, I was aimlessly swiping my way through a dating app when I saw his face/name pop up. I immediately swiped right, blushed at the fact that we had matched (meaning he swiped right on me first, period!!), and slid my number in his dms. Typical Jaz to control the show, right? That was August 16th; from there, we talked day and night until our first date on August 27th, and we made things official just about a week later on September 4th… they say when you know, you know. Anyway, we’ve been inseparable since, navigated what felt like long distance (we were literally an hour away, but still) dating for a year before moving in together in July of 2021, started working at the same school where he is affectionately known as Mr. Handy, took in another cat, Orion, spent lots of time eating, laughing, singing, dancing, watching movies, and playing Scrabble and other games, and have never looked back! A true match made in heaven <3

Our Engagement

11/05/2022

Since the first day I laid eyes on Jaz, I knew we had something special. She always understood me even when I felt like no one else could. She makes me feel like we can do anything together. Everyone knows we fell for each other fast, but there was this one specific day when I was working at AGCO, building tractors and stuff, working long hours, fighting for my life LOL. One particular day, I was hot and ready to go home and just relax. We just got finished taking our last 15 minute break of the day when everyone came in telling me that someone put these balloons on my car and some roses. Me being me, just thinking everyone’s joking, I go outside to see for myself and low and behold there’s these big, red, heart-shaped balloons, rose petals everywhere, and a card. From that day on, I knew she was the one. From there, I schemed a plan to make her my future wife. So boom… I get the ring, make the plans, tell the parents and besties, book an anniversary cruise but nothing ever felt quite right (and Jaz wanted to be in control and told me to keep the engagement lowkey) and just my luck when I finally replanned a date to propose, I came down with killer food poisoning after eating Indian food (never again) to the point where Jaz literally had to take me to the emergency room on a Friday night…the night before I was set to propose, of course. In my mind, there was nothing that would stop me from proposing again. Having Jaz be there for me for over 7 hours in the ER just solidified that I was making the right decision and doing what God intended for me. So between the severe pain, the cold sweats, and many trips to the bathroom, I worked up enough strength and courage to put the ring on Jaz’s finger at 5am. She woke up a few hours later, shocked and sleepy, but said yes (obviously) and well, the rest is history. #ToInfinityandtheBarnes

Our Big Day

08/16/2024

We are thrilled to have you, our loved ones, join us in the beautiful Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica as we celebrate our nuptials. We chose Costa Rica not only for its beauty, culture, affordability, and novelty, but it is also the first place Jazlyn ever visited internationally, and we felt it would be the perfect place for Terrence to accrue his first passport stamp as well. Our wedding date 8/16/24 (yes, multiples of 8…y’all know I’m a math teacher lol) is actually the 4th year anniversary of those few shared DMs. We are hopeful that you will enjoy a few days engulfed in the pura vida lifestyle with us. We are so excited for this next chapter in our lives and are extremely thankful for your commitment and investment to our union. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all in August! Love, the soon-to-be Barneses
