Jaysie and Rob met on Hinge. Jaysie is from San Francisco and Rob is from San Jose. Rob claims that he was only on the app for one day before Jaysie took the bait. The day that Jaysie found Rob on Hinge, she had just finished the day wedding dress shopping for her sister-in-law. During that dress appointment, Jaysie became a live model and tried on a dress to help compare (even though she thought it would be bad luck). A few hours later, there was Rob’s profile and she gave it a click. Maybe the dress was good luck after all 🙃
In April 2023, Jaysie and Rob took their first flight together for a 12 day trip to Hawaii. They wanted the ultimate getaway to get some sun, relaxation, and poke and musubi (duh). They definitely got that! They were burnt to a crisp in the first few days and had a fridge full of poke. With their rental Smart Car, they drove all over Oahu. Meanwhile, Rob was anticipating the right place and time to pop the question and Jaysie fought every urge to dig through his things to find the ring 😅. Day after day, the moment just wasn’t quite right: the sunset view spot wasn’t private enough, the fancy restaurant served Jaysie shrimp, Jaysie missed the cue at the Dole Plantation, etc. On one of the final days, the roads to Lanikai opened back up so they drove over to feel the softest sand and swim the water. Even though it was very crowded, this beach was the most beautiful and even turtles swam right up to them! Jaysie thought this might be it- the perfect spot! …then Rob got stung by a jellyfish. After 10 days straight of cute outfits, Jaysie was sure it wasn’t going to happen on this trip. Rob survived the jellyfish sting and the rest of the day was spent lounging and wading in the water. At some point, the crowd died down and the sun was starting to set. It maybe felt like they were waiting… but waiting for what? As Jaysie started to pack up, she decided to snap a couple last pictures. Rob went over to join her for a selfie and in that moment full of giggles, he turned her around, knelt at the breech of the shore and proposed. It was just them two, a cloudy Hawaiian sunset, and the perfect moment. Jaysie was genuinely shocked since she didn’t think it was going to happen anymore and was even more shocked that he was holding the ring, kneeling literally in the water. (I know what you’re thinking- wow this story is long and omg did the ring fall in the water??). No it did not. It ended up on her super tanned finger and they lived happily ever after ☺️
