After Lily took a semester off of college she decided that the next step would be to find a job to fill her time and explore a career path she was initially interested in. With this in mind she went to work at the Union Club Hotel on Purdue's campus. At this time Jayce was working as a LAUNCH intern at the hotel! Now, even though Jayce was working at the front desk at the same time that Lily was working in Public Spaces, the two never saw each other (Lily preferred the day shift and Jayce could only work the night shift). Jayce would often swing by the hotel during the day to see if he could catch a glimpse of the busy PSA he wished to know but... never got the chance to meet her. Then, one fateful Halloween, their paths crossed. Lily stayed later than usual for an employee party at the hotel, and on her way to clock out, she saw Jayce at the front desk in an axolotl onesie. She was instantly starstruck. While she didn't stop by the desk that day to introduce herself, she became determined to figure out who he was. Suddenly, the housekeeping department lost one of their PM PSA's, and Lily, with her dedication to the Public Spaces team, decided she would take it upon herself to work a couple PM shifts to cover the gap. On the very first day she did, she was working with Jayce. On the night Lily agreed to cover a PM shift, Jayce did not know who would be working as a PSA that night but once his manager told him it would be Lily, he was intent on introducing himself and a little disappointed that he lost his conversation starter. You see, Jayce, all this time, did not know what Lily's name was, only that she was a cute girl who worked all the time. Lily did not know who was at the desk nor did she care too much. She was set on completing her checklist and working on projects that had been bothering her for a long time. However, as soon as she heard an unfamiliar guy's voice coming through the radio asking for her to run items to rooms in the hotel, she knew it was the axolotl guy. Lily buzzed around the hotel that night, walking by the desk more often than usual, waiting for the perfect time to introduce herself. Then, after a quick walk through the lobby, Lily overshot the desk before realizing that Jayce was by himself. She stopped herself and took about 5 steps backwards before approaching him. "Hey! I don't think I've met you, I'm Lily. What's your name?" she said with a wave "My name is Jayce, nice to meet you," he said with his hand out for a handshake. "Nice to meet you too! I'll see you around" Lily said shaking his hand before running off. That brief meeting, no matter how small or how insignificant it may have looked to anyone else, opened a door for these two and started a journey that will last a lifetime.
