FAQs

Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

Use the RSVP tab (top right) to complete an RSVP survey by August 1. The survey will ask you to RSVP to each event.

Question

Are you changing your last name?

Answer

No, the bride and groom will both retain their original birth names. They actually have the same last name, just in two different languages! In both Spanish (Salas) and German (Zimmer), their surname translates to "rooms", like living rooms.

Question

Are the events indoors or outdoors?

Answer

All events are indoors with the option to engage outdoors. After the wedding ceremony inside St. Mary's church, the priest will ask the guests to step outside for a "German Village Welcome". At the cocktail hour, guests have the option to use the outdoor balcony and explore the boathouse grounds.

Question

Where are you registered?

Answer

Question

What should I expect for the ceremony?

Answer

Please be seated by 12:45PM. The wedding party procession will begin at 1PM and doors will lock; no guests can enter after this time. To honor Meghan and Javier's upbringing in the Jesuit order of Catholicism, the marriage ceremony will take place within a traditional Catholic Mass that is expected to last at least 1 hour. The Eucharist will be offered to those who wish to participate. To learn more about what to expect during a Catholic Mass, please visit St. Mary's website: https://stmarychurchgv.org/resources/what-to-expect-during-mass Lastly, we kindly ask that you refrain from flash photography and do not obstruct the center aisle. Our photographers will be hard at work capturing the moment and we look forward to sharing their photos with all of you.

Question

What should I expect for the reception?

Answer

A cocktail hour followed by a reception will be held at the Boathouse at Confluence Park. Our reception is in the Confluence room, which overlooks the confluence of the Olentangy and Scioto rivers. The rivers are lined with trees that will be in peak fall foliage with downtown Columbus skyscrapers in the backdrop. It is 50% city, 50% nature, and 100% us! Please note that multiple events will be occurring simultaneously at this venue. Follow signage to the Confluence Room for the Zimmer/Salas wedding.

Question

What should I expect for the after party?

Answer

The after-party will be held the next day (12PM Sunday) at Land Grant Brewing Co. We have rented out the entire Land Grant Extension + Gravity Experience Park! Challenge the newlyweds to a pickleball doubles game or share your best marriage advice over a beer. We look forward to spending our first day as a married couple with the people we love the most! Gravity Park includes pickleball, basketball, lawn games, tents, igloos, and indoor taproom.

Question

Are children allowed?

Question

Will there be Hispanic traditions?

Answer

Yes, keep an eye out for the following traditions: Las Arras Matrimoniales - Wedding Coins: 13 wedding coins (12 gold, 1 platinum) symbolize Jesus and his 12 Apostles. The bride and groom will pass the coins back-and-forth at the altar to symbolize shared financial prosperity. Orange Blossoms: A traditional Spanish wedding flower, orange blossoms symbolize good luck for the newlyweds. Orange is the "pop" of color in our wedding color palette not only because of its purported good luck but also because of the October fall foliage lining the river at the boathouse. It is also a nod to Tennessee - where Meghan and Javier met. Go Big Orange! Sword: The sword you will see has been in Javier's family for several generations, and was an important part of his godmother's wedding. It was flown in from Spain for our wedding. You'll notice it a few times, especially during cake cutting. With a sword symbolizing strength, cutting the cake together using the sword demonstrates their commitment to facing life's challenges together!
