It all started in the summer of 2024. Hannah was a summer intern at Rock Point Church in Crawfordsville, Indiana. At the end of the summer, Hannah moved back to Winona Lake for her senior year at Grace College. Meanwhile, Javan had moved to Crawfordsville to teach at Crawfordsville High School. At the end of August, after weeks of praying and considering churches to get involved at, Javan felt that the Lord was leading him to Rock Point, where he began to connect and become friends with Rhett, who Hannah had worked under during her internship. On Sunday, September 24, Hannah was home visiting from college for the weekend, and she came to church with her parents. After the service, she was catching up with Rhett when he had to leave to take care of something before the next service began. So Rhett walked Hannah over to where Javan was standing and introduced them, saying, “Javan, have you met Hannah? She was my intern this summer,” before walking away and leaving them to talk with one another. Unbeknownst to Javan, Hannah left that conversation already interested in getting to know him better. Alas, he was oblivious and did not think much about the possibility of dating until a few months later. After Christmas, one Sunday Javan finally decided to pluck up the courage and ask Hannah out for coffee. She said yes, and the rest is history!
