At first, Chrissy and Jason only knew each other as familiar faces, as they had a few mutual friends at RIT and found themselves in the same places regularly. During the summer of 2011, Jason took a solo cross country trip, and when he posted his pictures online, Chrissy took an interest. She thought he must be a pretty bold person to take on an adventure like that. She mustered up the courage and with shaking hands sent Jason a message asking him out for drinks. He agreed, they set up a date, and the rest is history!
The day after Christmas 2019, the couple drove to Nashville to start their holiday vacation before going to Florida. Chrissy had a large list of recommended sites to see, but hadn't actually shared them with Jason. Cue his internal mini-panic. He knew he wanted to ask for her hand at some point while they were in Nashville, but couldn't plan it out not knowing where they were going. He also had concerns as the weather was becoming unseasonably warm and didn't know how he would hide the ring box if he couldn't wear his jacket. He knew it had to happen that night. Once they arrived at the hotel, they picked a spot for dinner and realized it was right down the street from a Christmas light show. Jason thought this could be the perfect spot, and he was right. The couple walked around checking out the different displays, and when they stumbled upon the beautifully lit and cozy igloos, Chrissy went to take a picture of the two of them but couldn't find Jason in the frame. She whipped her head around to see where he was, and he was down on his knee. Jason insists he said some nice words, but Chrissy was too shocked and excited and didn't hear anything. (Oops.) However, she of course said YES!
