Things To Do
Big Cottonwood Canyon
We've hiked here multiple times. (So many hiking options!) Serene's favorite marathon is through this canyon and she often trains up here.
Temple Square
This LDS temple took 40 years to build and was mostly built/funded by impoverished pioneers that settled in the valley in the late 1800s. The grounds are beautiful, covered with flowers during the summer. Make sure to check out the visitors centers, where you can learn more about our beliefs concerning God, Jesus Christ, family, and more.
Ensign Peak
We love this quick (0.8 mile) hike. If you're looking for something short that offers great views of Salt Lake, consider putting this on your list!
The 'Living Room' Hike
This (2.2 mile) hike offers an incredible view of Salt Lake, especially at sunset. If you have a bit more time and want an even better view of the valley, we'd recommend this over Ensign Peak.
Lake Blanche Hike
This is Jason's favorite hike. We did this hike together early on in our relationship. The hike is longer (6.7 miles), so make sure to bring plenty of water!
Log Haven
We love this restaurant. Log Haven is tucked away in Millcreek Canyon; you'll probably lose cell phone service. Serene also took Jason here on his birthday (May 3, 2018). If you visit, make sure to visit the waterfall across the street from the restaurant, behind the Log Haven parking lot. This is where Jason proposed!
Bonneville Salt Flats
Jason and Serene came here with friends before they started dating. This area looks like a completely different planet. The densely packed salt is a remnant of the prehistoric Pleistocene Lake. This is a popular film location for its unique views (e.g., Pirates of the Caribbean, Independence Day).
Tosh's Ramen
This is our favorite ramen place in Utah! We've been here so many times (birthday, post-proposal, just-for-fun). Jason and Serene love the Karai Ramen (the mushroom in it is to die for!).
Cubby's
This is Serene's favorite place to eat. Her favorite foods are the Houdini Burger and the sweet potato fries (best fries she's ever had). Jason typically orders the tri-tip steak salad or the tri-tip steak sandwich.
Topgolf
Jason and Serene enjoy topgolf and have come multiple times with friends and family. Anyone can enjoy this low-pressure game!
Sawadee
This is our favorite local Thai restaurant! We really hit it off on our second date here. Serene also dines here frequently with friends and coworkers. (Favorite dishes: Pad Gra Prow with Pork, Green Curry, Tom Kha Gai)
