The Main Event

12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Phyllis' Musical Inn
1800 West Division Street, Chicago, IL 60622

Attire: not-quite-formal? This is happening in a neighborhood bar, after all. Dresses, shirt&ties, etc. are all good—but you best be bringing dancing shoes.

Since these festivities are in a bar, please be aware that this is an adults-only event. We promised the proprietor that he wouldn't have children running around his establishment drunk on Old Style. As long as there's no precipitation, we're hoping to begin the day in Phyllis' beer garden (so dress appropriately if it's a cool-but-dry day). The short-but-sweet ceremony will start promptly at noon, and be followed by a catered lunch from local Mediterranean legend Sultan's Market (chicken shawerma, lamb shawerma, falafel, pita, tabuli, jerusalem salad, rice/lentils, hummus, and baba ganuj). From 1–3pm, you *will* be dancing with us courtesy of the jumpin' jams of the Low Down Brass Band. We've got the bar all to ourselves for 3 hours, but then it's open to the public. You don't have to leave when it's over, but the open bar tab will be closing and the fascinator-wearing Kentucky Derby crowd will be rolling in.

The After Party

4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The second half of the day's official proceedings are just a couple blocks west of where the day begins. This Mexican restaurant is a personal favorite of ours, and will feature a cash bar & a DIY tostada bar (steak/carnitas/chicken tinga), rice, beans, ensalda de nopales, elotes, and chips & salsa. Before dinner is served, however, we'll have more live music from 4:30–5:30pm. And the whole time we'll also have access to a couples lanes of mini bowling. Fun for everyone! We've got the restaurant/bar all to ourselves for 3 hours, but then it's open to the public. You don't have to leave when it's over, but the sombrero-wearing güero crowd will be stumbling in for Cinco de Mayo (observed).

For all the days along the way
