We met on Hinge at just the right moment—Jason was about to delete his profile when his brother JP talked him into giving it one last try by accepting Julie's match request. Julie sent the first message, a real conversation sparked, and we quickly made plans for our first date at the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin on September 9th, 2023. The art became the backdrop to something deeper. Seven hours (and several stops) later we wrapped up our unexpected marathon first date knowing something special had sparked. After a nine hour second date at the Pecan Street Festival one week later, we both knew this was something "beyond". 🍑
Somewhere early in our relationship, we realized what we had wasn’t just beyond—it was joyful. Easy. Light. Full of deep connection and daily delight. It moved fast, but never rushed. So we started calling it the Joytrain—a term that became our way of naming the incredible energy between us, and the sense that we were riding something uniquely ours. Since then, the Joytrain has only picked up steam. It’s become our shorthand for the joy we share, the love we nurture, and the life we’re building—full of laughter, wild adventures, deep conversations, and spontaneous kitchen dances. This wedding isn’t just a celebration of where we are now—it’s one more stop on the ride. 🚂 💕 💕 💕
A little over a year later, on November 3, 2024, Jason proposed to Julie in the tidal pools of Playa Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. With the sound of waves and sun-warmed rocks beneath us, he spoke from the heart—promising a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure. Julie raised her arms to the sky and shouted, “Yes! Yes! A million yeses! Yes! Yes! Yes!” And just like that, this next stage of our Joytrain began unfolding. 💍
