About 30 years ago, Grace's parents fell in love with Sun Valley and the Big Wood River. After nearly relocating the Martini family from North Carolina several times, Grace's family bought a place in Ketchum. After 7 months of dating, in an admittedly risky move, Grace introduced Jason to both Sun Valley and the entire Martini family at her dad's 60th birthday party. The visit was a resounding success, and everyone seemed to love Jason. After that trip, Grace and Jason continued to take advantage of any opportunity to spend time together in Sun Valley hiking, skiing, and fly fishing. Jason would tell you it's where he first fell in love with Grace. In their shared "happy place", Jason proposed on top of Baldy mountain after their first ski run of the holiday season in December 2022.
Yes! Two things: 1) There is another Grace getting married the same weekend in Sun Valley. The couple has similar names - Grace and Joe - random, but worth mentioning so that you don't inadvertently become wedding crashers. 2) Our wedding weekend is the same weekend as the 27th Trailing of the Sheep Festival (10.4 - 10.8). What's the Trailing of the Sheep Festival? It's a festival to gather, celebrate, present, and preserve the history and cultures of sheepherding in Idaho and the West. Learn more about the weekend of events here: https://trailingofthesheep.org/ If you haven't already, we recommend booking your lodging; we anticipate that hotels / airbnbs will get booked up for the weekend.
Ketchum and Sun Valley share quite a bit of their city limits with each other and are about a mile apart. Ketchum encompasses the historic old mining town grid and is the main town and includes the primary ski mountain, Bald Mountain. Sun Valley encompasses the original resort village, golf courses, and various residential neighborhoods, such as Elkhorn, as well as Dollar Mountain base area. Sun Valley is often used to refer to the entire valley including the southern towns of Hailey and Bellevue that you will likely fly into or drive through on your way. We recommend staying in Ketchum if you can!

There are some Lyfts and Ubers in Sun Valley, but they are extremely limited. If you want to make the most of your time in Idaho and do some hiking, biking, fly fishing, or golfing, we recommend getting a rental car. Note: The Sun Valley buses are free and run all over Ketchum and SV so they can be a great way to get around!
Yes! We know that Sun Valley is difficult to get to, so the least that we can do is make sure that everyone is well fed. We're planning to have gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options. If you have other dietary restrictions or food allergies, please let us know. We are SO happy to make accommodations!
Not to be the couple that defaults to talking about the weather, we're hopeful for perfect fall weather. It *should* be in the 50s / 60s during the day and drop down to the low 40s at night. Please plan to bring a jacket for the evenings - they're beautiful and crisp!
