Pillows, linens/blankets and 1 shower towel will be provided per guest. We’ve been told there are some additional towels in the pool area but unsure how many - oh yeah, the Manor has a heated indoor pool and the Chalet and Lake Lodge both have hot tubs, so don't forget your bathing suit! Guests are encouraged to bring their own washcloths/sponges, extra hand towels and or pool/hot tub towels if desired, as well as their own personal toiletries and bath products. Remember, it's a house, not a hotel! In the Pennsylvania mountains in late August, it can get a bit chilly in the mornings and at night. Make sure to bring a sweatshirt and some warm clothes just in case, along with suntan lotion, bug spray, and enough cookies to share.
Every guest staying with us at Elk Mountain is entitled to 3 nights lodging, beginning Friday 8/20 at 4pm until Monday 8/23 at 11am. We'd love as much time with you as we can get so we certainly encourage you to stay the whole weekend! The Manor will be open early and available all day on Friday 8/20; if you are staying in the Chalet, Lake Lodge or Lake House and happen to arrive in the area earlier than 4pm on Friday, please feel free to join us at the Manor and relax until your house opens.
We’re guessing you probably will. So we’ll be catering meals from fantastic local restaurants for Friday night's welcome dinner & Saturday morning breakfast. Our Michelin star chef Eduard Frauneder will bring extra deliciousness on Saturday evening & Sunday Brunch! Sunday night cookout will feature Loca Foods, brisket burgers & the absolute best local corn on the cob you’ll ever eat! Vegetarians, don't worry we've got you covered at every meal! We'll also be providing snacks & soft drinks for the houses & some off-site meal options if you get extra hungry or just need a little time to yourself! ;) As for booze, we’ll have all the beer & wine covered for the weekend & some fun cocktail surprises, but if you already know you can't live without your favorite drink OR your special snacks - like Jason can't! - feel free to bring whatever you need to make your weekend more comfortable. Just make sure you label your food in the fridge or Dwight Schrute will shame you, and most likely eat it.
We are both vaccinated and although we hope you are as well, we understand it is a personal choice and there's a lot of opinions out there. If you're not, we will require a negative Covid test for entry, taken no earlier than 72 hours before the wedding (followed by limiting your exposure). If you're traveling by plane and the timing feels weird, there's a few rapid test result spots in Scranton we can direct you to. Please reach out and we are happy to help. We really don't want to ask everyone to have to send proof of vaccination cards or provide your negative Covid test upon entry so we will rely on your honor that you would not knowingly enter into this sacred circle of our closest family and friends without making the effort to ensure you get vaccinated or provide a negative test. Is it fun or convenient? No. But neither is dying. Thank you in advance for your understanding, effort, and cooperation.
Not gonna lie, the service up there is pretty spotty if you’re too far away from the houses. We’re talking RURAL Pennsylvania. But during our wedding weekend, we don’t mind a little break from technology ;) Every houseguest will get the appropriate Wifi codes for their house and the wedding venue.
Yes. Just to the left of The Manor there will be a grassy lot, from the driveway you'll take a left and simply follow the signage to self park. If there has been a lot of rain that week, parking will be at the stables just to the right of The Manor. Again, the signage will direct you.
Of course! Chalet and Manor guests don't need one because they will already be on site, but round trip shuttle service to and from The Manor will happily be provided if you are staying at Lake Lodge. Please, do not drive drunk! The houses may not be very far away from each other, but even if you're sober the roads are super dark at night. So why not take advantage of the free ride and enjoy yourselves?
Cocktail attire, please. What does that mean? No one knows. Do you like 'Garden party chic' better? However you interpret these specs, it's a fun summer wedding and we want you to feel comfortable! So if those shoes are too stiff or that top button is too tight, or the jacket isn't working for you, please let it all hang loose. Well, perhaps not ALL... ;) Ladies: don't forget we are on grass so it's best to leave the high heels at home.
We will have a babysitter on site helping out with the kids as needed during the reception. They can hang within eyesight in the backyard nearby with games and kid-friendly snacks, or they can play in the game room at the Manor and be out of sight and out of mind - when you're not smothering them with wine-enhanced love and affection.
Well, we can't think of everything! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to us or our house manager Jackie at jackie.rauchberger@gmail.com
