Our Story!

Our story begins as most love stories do--anticlimactically. We had two mutual friends (best friends actually) who were dating each other. One of them (Nathalie, obviously) had suggested for months that Jason and Allie could "be a thing." After hearing this repeatedly, our paths crossed at a Tahoe ski house in March of 2019. Although our love story didn't ensue immediately, Allison distinctly remembers saying, "I see what you mean about Roger's friend. It could work." Several months later Jason and Allison found themselves seated across from each other at Chubby Noodle in North Beach for "birthday dinner celebrations" with Nathalie. It was, in fact, her birthday! But it was also just the four of us so either Nathalie was so lame that nobody else came to her party, or a very unsubtle setup. The jury is still out on whether or not that was a date, but the night started with plenty of sake, and ended with a great time on the Del Mar dance floor. In making small talk later on, Allison asked Jason about his other weekend plans, to which he reported that he would be tagging along with his friend (shoutout Sam Sterman) as a +1 for his corporate holiday party at LinkedIn. Coincidentally, Allison had also been invited to this party, by a random dude from Hinge that she had met once for coffee. "I thought it was a bit of a red flag that this guy had nobody else to bring to his to his work party--but said 'yes' because I thought it could be a fun party, or make for a good story." Make for a good story it did. Five minutes into their pre-party cocktail, Allison knew this Hinge guy was not it. S he seriously considered texting her then roommate, Megan, asking her to make up an emergency so she could get out of the rest of the night. But, Allie decided to either suck it up, or she could always bail and meet up with Jason? It might come as no surprise that she opted for the latter. We bumped each other at the silent disco and the rest is history. There are many people worth thanking in making this connection happen. Nathalie (for the instigating) Sam Sterman for taking Jason as his date and bringing the fun party vibes that made the night such a blast, and lastly-- the random date from Hinge who's name nobody can remember. A weekend or so later we went on our first actual date: an urban hike to the top of Twin Peaks, followed by NFL playoff games and watching what we thought was Tom Brady's last game of all time (sorry Max, he did come back.) A couple moths after that, we ran a half marathon (the only race where Jason has had a faster time than Allison--he must have been trying to impress her.) Then the pandemic hit, Jason got into nursing school and subsequently moved to Omaha. But, even a Nebraskan polar vortex couldn't keep us apart. After a year of nightly phone calls, virtual movie nights and face time yoga on Sundays (Jason probably doesn't want that to be public information, but yes we did that) Jason officially became an RN and we moved into our first (and current) apartment in the Marina. The humblest and happiest home we've known. We are so excited to celebrate with all of you this November, and equally excited for the rest of our lives together!
