We're so excited to have international friends and family join us in Freiburg im Breisgau! The schedule below is meant to be flexible and comfortable, please feel free to check out Freiburg's visitor website or other resources and check out anything that catches your interest. We encourage exploring, relaxing, and socializing together as we prepare for our wedding on October 18!
House Or Rental
The Robb family and Torben and Jasmine are staying in Freiburg on the edge of the Altstadt (Old Town) of Freiburg. There are two separate apartments, and are located very close to the main train station in Freiburg. The Airbnb host has said not to take a taxi from the main train station as people would laugh ;) (it's a 5-10 minute walk).
Travel Note
Saturday October 11 First guests arrive to Freiburg HBF. Check in to AirBnB, settle in, check out any needed groceries nearby! Sunday October 12 Grocery stores and shopping will be closed, some bakeries, cafes, and restaurants will be open. Sadie, Zoran, and Sapphire arrive in from the Frankfurt Airport on this day. Monday October 13 Torben and Jasmine are having Breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa Gehl on this morning :) Exploration day! If you are interested in further exploration around the city, this is a good day to check out the Freiburg Welcomekarte (welcome card for tourists) which is valid for 3 days. If interested talk with Jasmine or Torben and we can guide you through how to get the ticket on the DB Navigator App or in person at the train station. The cost is 27 Euro and includes: unlimited travel on busses and trains in the RVF network area (2nd class) travel on the VAG Schauinsland cable car free entry to Freiburg’s city museums 2-euro discount on public city tours and guided tours with actors More US guests arrive this evening! Zoran’s Birthday Party Night!!! Join us in celebrating Zoran!! Tuesday October 14 Sister Day at the Spa Old Town Beergarten night? Wednesday October 15 Belated 80th Birthday Treats for Grandma Gehl this afternoon! Girls’ Night Out (Sisters + GR ladies evening out for dinner + drinks) Thursday October 16 Botanical Garden (free entry) on this day? Funicular ride up the Schlossbergbahn as a group today! We’ll coordinate a good time to do it, maybe in the afternoon? Round-trip ticket is 6 euros or free if you have purchased the Freiburg Welcome Ticket. Prep to depart on Friday. Friday October 17 Depart Freiburg - There is a regional train (RE7 at 12:42pm) that will take us to the train station in Bühl, and then a bus ride (263 at 2:46pm) to a stop very close to Edelfuchs Lodge. For those that need a train ticket for this journey, there will be a group ticket pool that day.

Highlights are the Augustinermuseum (Augustinian Museum), Freiburger Munster Cathedral, Konviktstraße (old preserved crafstmans street with shops, cafes, etc.). Check out the link above to Freiburg's visitor's site. They have a ton of info.

Beb & Bene - Vegan & Vegetarian crepes + specialties Adelhaus Bio-Restaurant - All-organic vegetarian buffet cafe Munstermarket - Daily market in the Old Town that runs until 1:30pm. Apparently THE item to try at the food stalls is the "Lange Rot" or the "Long Red," a pork-based sausage, which originated in Freiburg in 1949. Decker Garage Brauwerkstatt - Very cool-looking brewery with local beer and a cool outdoor atmosphere. Martin's Bräu - Old Town brewery, notes that it has larger tables and a good atmosphere for larger groups!! Strandcafe - a cafe and coffee shop on the doorstep of where the Robb crew is staying! Locals call it a hidden gem. Cafe Auszeit - Also very close, LOTS of options for lunch, pastries, cake, and coffee. Markthalle - Centrally located food hall with MANY options. Craftbeer Lodge - Retailer with a wide selection of international and local craft beers!
Travel Note
There are several options if you're looking for basics around Freiburg. Grocery Stores: Rewe Edeka Aldi Lidl Organic Shops: Alnatura Denn's Bio-Markt Pharmacies - if you need medicines, supplements, bandages, etc., check out these: DM Muller There are also Apothekes around if you happen to need something over the counter, like cold meds or painkillers. These WILL be more expensive here, so check DM and Muller first. Talk to Jasmine or Torben if you need something specific or are concerned about something.
