FAQs

Got A Question? We Have an Answer! (feel free to ask us directly for any other questions)
Question

Do I need a passport to go?

Answer

Yes! The Bahamas requires a passport that has an expiration date no less than 6 months before your date of arrival. Please make sure you have your up-to-date passport ready to go!

Question

What currency do they use?

Answer

The Bahamian dollar and the USD are both used on the islands. They have an equal exchange rate and can be used interchangeably. We recommend bringing cash with you for taxis, food, tips, etc.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

Your passport and driver’s license are a must. We recommend bringing a bug repellant and bug bite relief cream, and SUNSCREEN (looking at you, New Englanders). It shouldn’t be especially hot in April but you should still pack for tropical weather. And of course bring a swimsuit!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

As much as we love your little ones, we kindly request an adults-only celebration. We hope you'll use this as a chance for a mini getaway - so that all guests can relax and enjoy themselves.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Since this is a destination wedding, early RSVPs are a huge help! Thank you for letting us know your plans as soon as you can.

Question

Where’s the wedding registry?

Answer

Your presence is the only present we need! No gifts necessary.

Question

What is there to do on the island?

Answer

Eleuthera is filled with beautiful natural wonders and sights as well as excursions for those that like to dive, snorkel and fish. Check out this website for a detailed look at all there is to do! You can also check out the Things To Do section of our website for some of our personal favorites! https://www.erikastravels.com/things-to-do-eleuthera-bahamas/

Question

What’s the best way to get around?

Answer

We highly recommend renting a car. There will be shuttle services to and from the events but if you want to explore the island on your own you will need your own transportation. Taxis can be pricy and Uber/Lyft does not exist!

Question

What about food?

Answer

There are lots of grocery stores and restaurants on the island for you to try the local cuisine! Keep in mind however that because it is an island, everything is imported making food prices much more expensive than what you may be used to. If you have favorite snacks we recommend packing them up with you to bring from home (just no fresh fruits or veggies).

Question

How do you pronounce Eleuthera?

Answer

eh-LOO-thra!
