Padrinos de Velación are the wedding "Godmother and Godfather." They are special people in the lives of the bride and groom who are also married in the Catholic Church. Their purpose is not only to witness the marriage but also to advise the couple through their married life. The padrinos de velacion bring a "Lazo". This is a double wedding rosary that is placed on the shoulders of the couple during the ceremony to bless and bind the marriage.
Padrinos de Arras | Unity Coins Godparents
Padrinos de arras will sponsor the Arras. Arras meaning "earnest money" represents the groom's promise to support his wife and family. The bride's acceptance of the arras signifies her trust in his ability to provide. Thirteen gold coins are presented to bestow blessings of prosperity upon the marriage. The thirteen coins also represent the months of the year with an extra coin symbolizing generosity towards those in need.
Padrinos de Anillos | Godparents of the Rings
Godparents of the rings, Armando and Meagan Martinez will present the wedding rings during the ceremony to symbolize the couple's eternal love and commitment.
Madrina de Ramo de Virgen | Flower Bouquet Godmother
Godmother of the flower bouquet that the couple gifts to the Virgin Mary at the end of the Ceremony. This tradition is a symbol of the bride’s devotion and gratitude to the Virgin Mary and her intercession in their married life.
Padrinos de Biblia y Rosario | Bible and Rosary Godparents
Siblings of the bride will present the couple with a family bible and rosary. These items should always be present in a Catholic home.
