Question

What to expect at a Catholic Wedding Mass

Answer

A Catholic wedding Mass usually runs 45-60 minutes, depending on the priest and the size of the communion line. There will be kneeling if you need to plan your dress around it. Kneeling is part of the Catholic Liturgy. You'll kneel for prayers, blessings, and possibly during parts of the Eucharistic prayer. Those that are practicing Catholics with the sacraments and in good graces may go up to receive communion. If you are not a practicing Catholic and not receiving communion, you may go up for a blessing. You can cross your arms over your chest and receive a simple blessing from a priest or minister. We are not writing our own vows. Catholic Ceremonies use prescribed vows that reflect church teaching. Music is liturgical. We will be playing sacred or classical music during the ceremony. There will be a "Catholic gap" during the day. The ceremony begins at 1:00 p.m. and the reception begins at 4:00 p.m. Thank you for your respect, participation and attendance. Marlon & Jasmin
