Cars can be expensive in CR. Do research to see what deals you can get, but remember, insurance is different there than in the states. Driving isn't hard, but some paths are bumpy and may even be dirt! Some even flood regularly so caution must be taken if you plan to drive. Is it necessary? NO, but if you plan to hire a Van to get you to the hotel your staying, it may be difficult to get around after and your options may be limited other than walking. For those staying at Elements where the wedding will be held, private chef and private chauffeur services are available. Please reach out to the bride and groom if interested.
While Costa Rica is generally safe, car theft can happen. To protect your vehicle, always lock your doors, keep windows closed, and never leave valuables in plain sight. Using hotel or venue parking lots is recommended whenever possible.
We recommend generally only consuming bottled water if you are from the states. Cold bottled water will be provided at the wedding. Most resorts and larger cities have very clean water. Appetizers, desserts, and main courses will be fully cooked. At this time, no specialty options will be provided other than being served in individual portions for those with restrictive diets. If you have an allergy, please ask the servers at the venue how the food was prepared. If fruit is provided, it will be cleaned in bottled water.
NOPE, you are the gift!
July is the last month of the dry season in CR. However, it could still rain during your time there so have a rain jacket or umbrellas! The wedding ceremony will occur mostly outside, and will be a rain or shine event. Tents will be there to cover food and tables.
Costa Rica commonly uses US cash money in parallel with its own legal tender. However, exchange rates can be poor depending on the service or store vendor. It's recommended to bring a combination of US bills (a few hundred) depending on the length of your stay, and consider exchanging some of them before or during your trip with Costa Rican Colóns as well. Only Colón and US bills will be accepted there.
Casado is a classic Costa Rican meal, usually served with rice, beans, salad, fried plantains, and a choice of meat or fish. It’s hearty, filling, and perfect for tasting a bit of everything!
