We’re getting married!

Jared and I both worked at the Human Services Center for about a year, but worked in different departments so did not know of each other. Jared ended up picking up a few overtime shifts on a unit I was working on. The first shift he was just coming in as I was leaving and I asked my friend Paige who he was and she said he was Michelle's son. Michelle, Jared's mom, was one of my bosses for the night shift. The next day Jared and I were both scheduled to work four hours together on a unit. His mom was also working that night and when she came in I told her, "Hey Michelle I am going to hit on your son when he comes in." Michelle laughed thinking I was joking, but I definitely was not. I had my friend Megan make sure she partnered Jared and I together down the same hallway. The whole shift taking care of patients we got to talk. Later that evening I ended up adding him on Facebook and then the next night I took a chance, with a lot of encouragement from my friend Molly, and messaged him. We've been talking and inseparable ever since.

It was a Friday night and Jared and I were having a relaxing night before we went on our annual trip to Kansas City for a Chiefs game. I was inside in sweats doing some homework and Jared was out in the garage having a few drinks. Jared kept coming in and bugging me telling me to hurry up and finish my homework. I was starting to get a little irritated because we didn't have anything going on and I didn't understand why he was trying to rush me. Finally he came inside with a box and I was sitting on the couch with my laptop and he said I bought you something for Kansas City. I gave him a weird look and said, "Why I didn't get you anything?" He said he thought I could use it. So I opened the box and it was a can koozie for slim cans that I had been wanting. When I pulled out the koozie from the box something fell into my lap and I looked down and it was a ring. I was literally in shock because I had no idea when he got it or that he was going to propose any time soon. I looked up and he was down on one knee and I said "what is happening right now?!" And he said "well are you going to say yes?" And of course I said YES!
