Close to the ferry - you will traverse across a forest, a meadow, and a marsh to get to a water view! Highly recommended if you are interested in bird watching.
The only retail store on Guemes Island - and your source for farm-to-table food, groceries, and beverages, If you're looking to get away from the resort for awhile, it's only a 5 minute drive away at the other end of the island!
Anacortes is a cute seaside town - it also happens to be our launchpad to Guemes Island! There are many fun restaurants, bars, and shops in Anacortes. We have listed a few of them below! Restaurant / bar recommendations: GERE-a-deli Rockfish Grill & Anacortes Brewery Calico Cupboard Village Pizza Anthony's
Whale watching is one of the premier attractions you can go on from Anacortes! We highly recommend going on a trip if you get the chance, seeing an orca in person is an experience you'll never forget. We personally recommend going on Deception Pass Tours, who we know provides safe and ethical tours (https://www.deceptionpasstours.com/whale-watching/summer-whale-watching/). Here are some other vendors as well for reference: Spirit of Orca - www.spiritoforca.com Island Adventures - www.island-adventures.com Blackfish Tours - www.outerislandx.com
A beautiful hike a bit south of Anacortes. A bit more steep than some of the other hikes, but well worth the walk, as you will have stunning views of West Fidalgo Island and the Puget Sound from the top
If you have time, the San Juan Islands are the perfect extension to your trip. You can choose an island and make it a day trip out of Anacortes but you'll almost certainly find yourself wanting to stay longer. If you take a car, be sure to reserve your ferry in advance (at least a few weeks out) at: https://secureapps.wsdot.wa.gov/Ferries/Reservations/Vehicle/default.aspx
If you are planning to extend your trip and want to experience some of the best hiking in the Pacific Northwest, we highly recommend a day trip to North Cascades National Park. Early fall weather is unpredictable so make sure you have a back-up plan, but if the weather does hold up you won't be disappointed. The park is 90 minutes from Anacortes and 2 hours from Seattle.
