Things To Do
Pure Project Balboa Park
Jared and Allie love this place! They fell in love with the biergarten and CT3 (their seasonal strawberry triple IPA). They've spent countless times here, meeting up with friends, enjoying delicious beer & pizza, and just together time. It's right next to Balboa Park, so they like to walk the park and come here afterwards to rest, relax, and enjoy delectable libations!
Pizza Port Ocean Beach
This is one of Allie's favorite spots! Situated a little over 2 blocks from her apartment, she found herself down there for cheesy garlic buddies, garlic veggie pizza, and a happy hour beer more than she's comfortable admitting. The proximity was a treat, and it quickly became a tradition for she and Jared to go together when he was in town (or to get takeout and eat it on Allie's balcony or on the beach)! They highly recommend checking it out!
Balboa Park
This has been a fun spot for Jared and Allie to explore! They've ran, biked, and walked through a majority of that park! The cactus and rose garden are fun, as well as walking down the trails, getting lost in the variety of vegetation! They've met up at different locations throughout the park multiple times with friends!
Mike's Taco Club
Allie fell in love with this spot pretty early on in the OB days. Only 2 or so blocks down the street from her apartment, this was a go-to spot for veggie burrito cravings, bringing guests from out of town, and when Jared came to visit, he wasn't above grabbing Mike's every time (as well as Pizza Port, ha)! This is the perfect spot to grab a take-out burrito (with delicious salsas) and eat it right around the corner at the beach.
Ocean Beach
Allie's favorite spot in San Diego! She moved here August 1, 2019 and fell in love. She moved into an apartment 1.5 blocks from this gorgeous beach, and built her lifestyle and routine around it. Walks and talks with Jared on the beach became a norm. Walk down the pier (when it's open) and you might see a pod of dolphins! Walk north up the beach and you'll see the beloved, dog beach (so many dogs, it's heaven!). Walk south down the beach and you'll hit tide pools and a sneaky cliffside path that wraps around to another private beach spot!
Fernside
This became Jared and Allie's new favorite spot after they stayed at an airbnb in the South Park neighborhood! Fernside was a short bike ride away-- they had the BEST vegan burger and delicious to-go cocktails. They've enjoyed eating here the past few months and trying a few new cocktails and menu items, but once Jared likes something, it's hard to deviate. This will continue to be a fav local spot, as it's situated in Jared & Allie's new neighborhood!
Dark Horse Coffee Roasters.
We love this coffee shop! They have a couple different locations around town, great coffee, and delicious vegan donuts. Highly recommend :)
Mesa Rim Climbing Center (Mission Valley)
Jared and Allie have a thing for climbing. Allie was a member at this gym a while back (when her roommate worked here), and she had the privilege of sharing the experience with Jared when he came to town. Jared is an avid climber, so the two are excited to continue this part of their life together in the San Diego area, both indoors & outdoors!
Hollands Bikes & Beyond
We have always intended to do a Coronado date day, but just haven't gotten around to it yet! Allie has had a chance to do this without Jared (taking the ferry/water-taxi over to the island is a fun way to do it!). We've heard great things about renting one of these bikes, adventuring around Coronado, experiencing the lovely beach and surrounding restaurants and bars!
Cabrillo National Monument
This is a great hike, gorgeous views, and only 2.5 miles. Jared and Allie have done this trek once so far and truly enjoyed the nature escape right in the middle of the city. It was a much needed getaway!
