FAQs

The Wedding Website of Alejandra Parra and Jared Borocz-Cohen
Question

When will I get more details??

Answer

We will send out invitations in a couple of days (!!), which will include a lot more information! We wanted to give our travelling guests (all of you!) plenty of time to start planning flights and lodging. If you have questions that pertain specifically to making those reservations, please let us know! In the meantime, please be patient while we plan :)

Question

When should I book my flight?

Answer

Historically, the perfect time to book is between 150 to 120 days out. You can track flights and prices on Google Flights, Hopper, and Momondo. That said, we have already seen some decent deals for flights going down to CTG. If you go on google flights, you can set price alerts for your preferred routes. Also, don't be afraid to get creative and book two one ways, or different airports of entry/departure. Sometimes, different airline one-ways can be cheaper than a round trip. If you have questions, ask Jared — he's the flight guru!

Question

When should I book my hotel?

Answer

Now!! Rooms go quickly, so if you’d like to stay at the Sofitel, we suggest booking ASAP to secure your room. We have secured reduced rates for the rooms. To book, either call and mention the wedding or fill out the form in the photos section —it’s the last picture in the photos tab. Follow the instructions on the form. Make sure your credit card does not charge foreign transaction fees! No need to send a copy of your passport though! If you are staying elsewhere, you can book as early as you’d like! There’s plenty of beautiful hotels and AirBNB’s — just make sure your accommodations are in the Old City within the walls!

Question

How can I pay for things once I’m in Cartagena?

Answer

In Colombia, they use Colombian Pesos. The exchange rate is about 3,000 COP to $1 USD. Some places accept credit cards (make sure to use a cc that does not charge a foreign transaction fee) but we recommend also taking out cash when you get there. The best way to do this is bringing a debit card and taking cash out of an ATM when you arrive. This ensures the best exchange rate with minimal fees.

Question

What should we wear?

Answer

Formal attire and comfy shoes! While Cartagena is hot, the ceremony will take place in a covered area and the reception will be inside with plenty of AC. So bring on the suits and long, flowy dresses!

Question

Can I take pictures?

Answer

While our ceremony is “unplugged,” cocktail hour and the reception are not. We want our guests to be present as we say our “I do’s” and would like to see all your faces without the distraction of cellphones or cameras — let our amazing photographers work their magic. However, feel free to take all the pictures and videos you want while we party it up!
