When Kara started working at the same company as Nate, she immediately caught his attention. After a few brief interactions and a sassy response from Kara to one of his work related requests, Nate knew he had to put himself out there. It was his last week of work, and through some very intentional encounters, asked Kara if she'd like to grab lunch and celebrate her recent promotion. Mercadito in Chicago was the spot. The lunch lasted 2 hours, and although Nate thought it was clearly a date, Kara was under the impression that Nate was just killing time during his last week. Turns out Kara thought she was the one making moves and told her friends after lunch that she was going to have to ramp up the flirting. From that day on, both of them have been inseparable, cherishing every moment together.
We chose Colorado for our destination wedding as it holds many special memories for us and we knew that our friends and family would make the most of this winter vacation to the mountains! Our first trip together was a ski trip in Steamboat Springs with Nate's college friends, and we then returned to Colorado to visit Breckenridge in the summer with Kara's family. These trips were the first of many memories that we've made together in the mountains and we cannot wait to make more with you all at Devil's Thumb Ranch in January. 75 Miles West of Denver, nestled among the rolling hills and rugged mountains of the Ranch Valley Creek near Winter Park, Colorado, lies Devil’s Thumb Ranch, a historical and anthropological haven of mythology and beauty. Its name can be traced back to a time in American history when bison roamed free and smoke signals were the only method of long-distance communication. Devil’s Thumb Ranch offers experiences that embrace the pioneering spirit of the early homesteaders while honoring and preserving the pristine landscapes for future generations. Guests are invited to participate in real, authentic ranch adventures from horseback riding, fly fishing, and cross-country skiing, to fat tire mountain biking and more on over 6,500 acres of Rocky Mountain wilderness. A luxurious escape would be incomplete without refined modern comforts like their renowned spa, acclaimed restaurants, elegant lodge accommodations, and private rustic cabins. Unplug from everyday life and lounge by the year-round heated pool and hot tub, destress with daily yoga, or curl up by the fire, roast a marshmallow, and reconnect with the people who matter most. It is an authentic Colorado Ranch experience you simply can’t find anywhere else.
