Best Dog

Hermes is the Korean hunk that makes the ladies back home swoon. One look at that beautiful blonde hair and chiseled jaw and your heart will instantly melt. Ryan and Janice stumbled upon this handsome Sapsali at a dog fair, where his story of being rescued from a Seoul meat farm warmed their hearts. He was destined for bigger, better things than soup! Appropriately named after the Greek messenger god (no, not the luxury brand, he ain't that fancy), Hermes spends his time chasing after pigeons, thinking about chasing pigeons, and hoping to one day catch said pigeons.

Queen Mochi

B*tch of Honor

Mochi (aka, @Mochi_San, aka Queen Mochi) is the little Bichon from California. Janice and Ryan rescued Mochi from Muttville, a senior dog rescue in San Francisco. Janice always wanted a dog but thought it was irresponsible to have a dog given her workaholism. Ryan convinced her otherwise. It was the best birthday present she could have asked for. Retired from her days patrolling the rough streets of Stockton, Mochi now spends her time relaxing, making fun of Hermes and laying on soft things around the house.

Ronnie Turner

Half of the reason Ryan was brought into this world, Ronnie couldn’t be prouder of how incredibly awesome his son turned out and how he managed to land a catch like Janice. Even though Ronnie, and Ryan’s mom Angie, now finally get to breathe a sigh of relief that someone finally decided to marry Ryan, they’re not pausing to rest for long. Always compassionate, always servant-minded, and always looking to do good the best they know how, this power parent couple is busy investing their years into giving children in need a loving home at the Black Mountain Children’s Home and leaving a legacy that will live on for generations.

Dee Mahadaven

Dee and Janice first met when they worked together at ICF. They first shared an office together, and even when they had the choice to get their own space, they chose friendship over larger desks. Janice can always trust Dee to send her new tunes when her playlist is stale, or offer a compassionate ear when things get tough. Dee is a fantastic singer, making the dudes in India and Canada fall in love with her beautiful voice. When she's not selling out shows or singing in Bollywood films, she is being a kick-ass yoga teacher living the Om life.

Caleb Snead

Groomsman

One of 3 Snead boys (both Ryan’s brothers from another mother), Caleb and Ryan go back about as far as it goes. Growing up together since middle-school, Caleb and Ryan have experienced countless life-defining moments throughout the decades. Going to church together, university together, sharing an undying love of gaming and music, and touring the country coast to coast for 6 years together. Though these dudes may be 2,500 miles apart from one another these days, they always pick up right where they left off and will be there for each other, together, until it’s time to move on to the next big eternal adventure.

Marisa Sweeney

Marisa and Janice first met each at Generate Capital and bonded over their mutual love for structured cash flows, philosophy, and emo-music. Janice is proud to call Marisa her climate sister and friend, navigating the world of green finance and the sketchy streets of San Francisco, together. When Marisa isn't busy being a total boss, she is playing with her adorable pomeranian-husky pup Georgia Mae (ask her for pics when you see her pls!).

Josh Stretch

Josh and Janice first met in Grade 7 and bonded over their mutual love/hate for math and skateboarding (well, more like Josh could actually skateboard and Janice wanted to skateboard but was too scared). Josh is like another brother, being there through thick and thin. One can find Josh racing his custom-built go-kart, philosophizing about the world, or climbing a fake rock.

Casey Thavy

Yet another Cheetoh eating, Mt. Dew chugging, keyboard licking video game nerd Ryan met online before making the move out west, Casey and his crew welcomed Ryan to his new home with open arms and overflowing cups of boba. Though Casey is the one with the highest honor of getting to stand on stage at the wedding, he represents a group of friends that truly had a profound impact on Ryan, have become some of his closest friends in the world, and who he would move the mountains for in their time of need. When Casey isn’t busy honing his craft of photography (check out our engagement photos, they’re his!), he’s probably trying to climb some ranked video game ladder with Ryan and friends, thinking they’re still as good as they were 5 years ago. They’re not.

Kali Taylor

Kali is one of the Co-Founders for Student Energy and a fellow climate warrior. When times get tough, Janice looks to Kali for inspiration. Without Kali, Janice wouldn't be on the path she is on and definitely wouldn't have gotten this far! Despite her professional demeanor at work, Kali loves to be the life of the party. You can often find her outdrinking burly men at whisky, singing show tunes at the top of her lungs, and lecturing people at the bar on the threat of climate change...in French.

Mike Emadi

You’ll know Miad “Mike” Emadi when he walks into the room, because you’ll see him and before you even realize it, the words, “who is THAT guy” have already slipped out of your mouth...and even though you’re not normally attracted to men, you just might be now. Your partner won’t even hate you for it, because they just thought the same thing. Always charming, charismatic, compassionate, genuine, and putting others first, anyone able to call Mike a friend is beyond fortunate; and Ryan can call Mike a brother. When Ryan met Mike, Brian, Matt, and Casey over 8 years ago online playing video games, little did he know how much this group, and Mike in particular, would transform his entire life.

Sean is a Co-Founder of Student Energy along with Kali. Janice and Sean have gone through a lot together, always leaning on each other for advice, tough-love, and inspiration. Sean is always pushing Janice to dream bigger, do more, and do it faster. When Sean isn't building his next empire or convincing people to pay attention to clean energy, he is busy being an awesome dad to his son Bo and daughter Haddie.

Henry and Janice have been former classmates, former workmates and former roommates, but not former friends! Their friendship has spanned multiple cities and they've counted on each other to be their family away from home. When Henry isn't plotting how to make the next big start up, you can find him making new music, snapping award winning pics, and coddling his two adorable pet bunnies.
