Flight
The Key West International Airport is the closest airport to the venue. An 8-minute ride from the airport makes it easy to rent a car or use Uber to get to the venue and the surrounding hotels. When we visited Key West, we took a direct flight on Delta to the airport from Atlanta. American Airlines also offers direct flights to Key West from Miami, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Dallas, Chicago, New York, and Washington DC. You do have the option to fly into Miami International Airport, but you would then have to rent a car and take a 3-hour and 15-minute drive (minimum) to Key West. Flying into Ft Lauderdale is also a 3hr and 53min drive to key West. Theres not much to see on the 3hr drive of your choosing so please plan accordingly on how you would like to arrive.
Travel Note
Uber and Lyft are abundantly available on the island, as it is a primary source of income for many. When we visited, we took ubers around the island rather than renting a car. Since the island is only 4 miles long and 1 mile wide, you're always within 15-20 minutes of wherever you would like to go.
Travel Note
Whether you plan to travel all over the island and keys, or would rather not use the rideshares, car rentals are available. Most major car rental companies work out of (or directly beside) the Key West airport, such as Avis, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Budget. However, due to all the paid parking lots and ease of travel in other ways (Uber, walking, biking, golf karting, public transit, etc.) it’s often not necessary to rent a car. We recommend having fun by renting a bike and or golf carts around the Keys - just don't hit the wild chickens and roosters while you ride!
Hotel
While this will be the venue for our wedding, we do *not* recommend staying here. The rooms are pricy in comparison to other resorts on the island, and we believe there are far better locations and hotels that give you more bang for your buck. We recommend you stay wherever you would like based on location, amenities, and your overall budget. You do NOT have to stay close to the venue either, as the entire island is within about 20 minutes of Casa Marina!
Hotel
This is a 4.4 star rated that has an ocean-front view directly facing the sunset in downtown Key West. This property has Jet Skis available, and excursions able to book through the hotel. It would be best to book this hotel 1-3 months out rather than half a year, as you would be paying a premium booking so far out. Hyatt Centric is a little pricier than a few other hotels on the island (but still far better price/value than Casa Marina), but has direct access to the beach and right in the middle of downtown, meaning you can walk to most anywhere with ease. Hyatt Centric is also a quarter mile from a CVS on the island and near the pier. If youre a foodie, you may enjoy the seafood and various other restaurants on the pier. If you like other style restaurants, turn right off your hotel exit and you will find many pubs.
Hotel
This is where we stayed at upon our first visit to the Keys, and is a more affordable resort compared to others around. This hotel is 2-3 mins away from the Key west airport. The rooms are very clean. We did not feel there were any issues with this, as this location is not downtown and thus does not have a lot of foot traffic around. It has a free shuttle both to/from the airport, as well as to/from downtown every 45 minutes. The food and drinks at the outside tiki bar are quite delicious, and bottled waters can be picked up from the front desk free of charge. We did hear flights entering and departing from the airport but the room does dampen the sound significantly. If you prefer not to have any flight sounds, this may not be the hotel for you. There is a 10 minute walk to a local beach access point, but it is not attached to the hotel and is open to the public. Uber is readily available, and we spotted people renting all kinds of ways to get around.
