Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) are the three airports that serve NYC, and your best bet. There is also Westchester County Airport (HPN) but Janet grew up in Westchester and has never been there. If you plan on renting a car and going straight to Tarrytown, EWR may be the most convenient. If you plan to stay in the City: - You can take NJ Transit from EWR to Penn Station. - JFK has the AirTrain, that will connect to the subway. - LGA is the closest to the city but without direct train access. A public bus will connect you to the subway and a cab / Lyft / Uber will run you $35 - 50 depending on where it drops you off. If having an amazing view when you fly in is of utmost importance, fly into LGA and book a window seat. An "A" seat will provide you a wonderful view of Manhattan during a majority of the landings into the airport :)
August can be quite hot and muggy, with chances of strong thunderstorms. However, we've already secured a deal with weather gods and they've promised 75F late afternoon / evening temperatures with low humidity and clear skies. But seriously, be prepared to sweat a bit and dress accordingly. The temperature in Tarrytown will be 5 - 7 F cooler than in Manhattan, simply because of the City acting like a heat sink.
Unfortunately, our venue has a tight capacity restriction which we're hitting with the number of guests we've invited, so we cannot accommodate any guests who have not been explicitly invited. If you're traveling from out of town with your child(ren) and are interested in pooling childcare resources with other parents, please let us know and we can try to help.
