The Wedding Website of Jan Loveridge and Paul Heinsohn
Our wedding will be held at the Vila Vita Parc resort in town of Porches in the Algarve section of Portugal which is the beach area in the Southern most part of the country. The closest airport to the resort is Faro International, unfortunately there are not many direct flights from North America to Faro. Most flights will connect through either Lisbon or one of the other major European cities. Most major US carriers will get you to Lisbon and from there you can take one of the many discount airlines down to Faro. Its roughly a 30 minute flight. If you choose to fly into Lisbon but want to experience some of the countryside, Porches is an easy 2 1/2 hour ride by car down a modern highway. If you are a bit more adventurous there are also trains leaving out of the Orient Station in Lisbon that can take you there, but it involves a few more transfers. It really isn't difficult though.

Hotel

Vila Vita Parc

Rua Anneliese Pohl, Porches, Faro 8400-450, Portugal

This is where the wedding and reception will be held. We have 20 rooms guaranteed at a discounted rate. To reserve one of these rooms please email the Senior Banquet and Event Manger, Helena Custodio at hcustodio@vilavitaparc.com and reference the "Loveridge/Heinsohn Wedding" in the subject. Helena will arrange your reservation. Vila Vita Parc is a five-star resort and is ranked among Portugal’s pre-eminent resort properties. Overlooking the ocean, it spreads over 54 spectacular acres of gardens, which provide a lush sub-tropical setting for its distinctive Algarvian architecture of Moorish design.

Travel Note

The Algarve

The Algarve, Portugal’s southernmost region, is known for its Atlantic beaches and golf resorts. Whitewashed fishing villages on low cliffs overlooking sandy coves were transformed in the 1960s, and now its central coast between Lagos and Faro is lined with villas, hotels, bars and restaurants. The region's western Atlantic coast and rugged interior are less developed

Flight

Humberto Delgado Airport - Lisbon International Airport

Humberto Delgado Airport, informally Lisbon Airport and previously Portela Airport, is an international airport located roughly 4.5 miles northeast of the city center of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. The airport is the main international gateway to Portugal

Travel Note

The Algarve Via Car

The most straightforward route from Lisbon to Porches is by the A2 motorway to the A22. These are toll roads so you should arrange for a toll transponder in your rental car. In general, once out of the Lisbon suburbs traffic is very light so the trip should only take about 2.5 hours. If you really want to see a bit of Portugal, you can take the coastal roads down from Lisbon to Sagres and then use the A22 to get to Porches. This route will take roughly 5 hours so it is considerably longer but there are a lot of unique villages and other sites along the way. Just know that the roads seldom have the actual coastline in sight.

Train

The Algarve via Train

The fastest way to travel via train between Lisbon and Albufeira is on the Alfa Pendular high-speed train leaving out of the Oriente Station and arriving in Ferreiras station in Albufeira. This modern train makes the trip in about 2,5 hours, but there are only 2 departures, daily. There's also an Express train but its route takes 3 hours.

Flight

Faro International Airport

Faro International Airport is roughly 45 minutes away from Vila Vita Parc where the wedding and reception will be held. It is a fairly small airport with a stunning approach over the ocean. Once there you can either rent a car or take an Uber to the resort.
