For those that don’t know, I’m the funny one. This may or may not be in constant debate. It’s almost certainly settled; It’s just not agreed on. But, I need to own one of the superlatives! My only other is most likely to leave my finger prints on the refrigerator door. Janelle is more like-able. She is more likely to call/text you and give you a present on your birthday. She is better organized, and we are talking, her calendar has 6 more colors than mine. She is better liked by dogs, including Molly… though I’m turning the tide there as I feed her more and she listens to me a little better. We started dating in during the peak uncertainty of the COVID Pandemic, but there were early sparks. I knew she might just have had long term plans for me when on our second date (October) she was discussing some plans for Ice Skating in February. Our first shopping trip together solidified that we were definitely different, but certainly complementary spirits. She had 15 items on her list of things to get. Mine had … “stuff to make fajitas.” We are both social animals. Maybe a little different in the matter of degree. We both have great friend groups, both locally and across the country. Janelle is a fantastic host but I may have slightly upped her potluck game. We have traveled often to visit our friends and families across the country . We are fortunate to have generous families who open up spare rooms to us when we need our beach fix, but I don’t think Janelle needs another copy of the Freer Family Tree. We both know how to ski, though have taken trips to ski mountains and ended up browsing shops, eating good food, and exploring. On a bright April day, a weekly lunch date got a little more interesting, when I diverted our walk through 4th Ward Park, got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. A few well placed spies captured the moment, gave us a hug and then wished us luck. We spent the rest of the day sharing the news with our families and enjoying a champagne toast. We are both excited to continue to get to know each other and happy to include you all in our journey. -Conor (The Groom)
