How We Met

2014

Between having many of the same friends and going to the same social gatherings, we consistently crossed paths without ever exchanging words. It wasn’t until we began working together at Planet Fitness when the flirting kicked in full gear. Along with the encouragement from our dear bosslady at the time (shoutout to Jessie!) being greeted everyday at the door with his “hello beautiful” never got old. After a few months of being treated like a princess and gaining an unmatchable bond, he asked me to be his girlfriend. A year later we moved into our first apartment together and became dog parents to our best girl, Luna!

The Proposal

October 2020

Johnny liked to make jokes whenever anyone asked him about popping the question... he'd say things like, "it could happen tomorrow, it could happen in the next 6 years!". With fall being my favorite time of year, we started making it a tradition to take a plane ride during the peak of autumn to see the stunning views of the foliage from above (when your boyfriend is a pilot, one must take advantage). While enjoying the sights I couldn't help but think what a perfect opportunity this would be. Naturally, my palms became sweaty and my heart started racing. It eventually came time for landing and I remember feeling slightly discouraged and thinking "well, maybe next time!". Now the only thing on my mind was LET’S EAT. Before putting the plane away for the day Johnny usually has me climb up on a ladder to refuel the plane. As I'm making my way back down the ladder I look over my shoulder and see him down on one knee, holding out something sparkly and shiny. In the most southern accent, he said "babe… ya wanna marry me?!". It was at that moment that I seemed to have forgotten how to speak as I couldn't believe that this was actually (finally) happening. Holding back tears, I reluctantly but anxiously walked up to him, hoping this wasn't one of his jokes. After sliding the ring on my finger and still speechless I was finally able to say "heck yeah babe!".
