The First Day 03. 18. 2019 The Yes Day 09. 24. 2022 The Best Day 08. 31. 2024
Illinois State University is where we suffered through 8am classes, got little sleep, but also where we found each other. It all started with open gym volleyball at the rec center. Jack went to play and Janelie to hangout with friends and occasionally to do homework. Our first interaction started with a joke and the past 5 years have been filled with countless more laughs. From day one conversations were easy. Open gyms turned into group dinners until eventually Janelie felt brave enough to get Jack's contact information. A “did you get home safely” (since Jack claimed he gets lost around campus) text turned into non-stop conversations. Till Jack finally asked Janelie on a date to get breakfast, our favorite meal. It has now become a tradition of breakfast dates over the last 5 years. Janelie then made Jack go to his first jersey themed college party, as it was only fair. Two months later, Jack finally asked “will you be my girlfriend?” Summer was spent driving back and forth between Naperville and Gurnee to spend time together. To spend time with both families, at times driving back to back days, as family has always been important to both of us. Jack eventually had to drive back to Normal, IL to visit Janelie as she finished her senior year. Over the course of the relationship the distance between has progressed from 2 hours away to 1 hour away to now currently only being 25 minutes away from each other. Although life hasn’t always been easy we learned early on that a relationship only works when both choose to go through the hardships together while learning to find those moments to laugh. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our years of love and laughter than with all of you. To celebrate the end of all the years of distance and traveling.
