Our Story

Kyle and I (Jane) spent our college years at Missouri S&T, existing in the same world, with the same friends, yet we probably exchanged 50 words over the course of 3 years. Despite the years prior our story really starts during the fall semester of 2022, 3 months before Kyle would be graduating. Jane's Perspective: For the 100th time we had ended up at the same event with the same friends, but it was different. Kyle and I spoke more words to each other that day than the last 3 years combined. Those newfound conversations lingered in the back of my mind for a few weeks until I decided to have a few friends over for a game night... with the hope that Kyle would tag along with those mutual friends. Sure enough, he showed up. Halfway through the night he pulled me aside (kind of cornered me actually) and *confessed* that he had been very interested for a while and had to get it out on the table before his looming graduation. Long story short, I gave him a hug, didn't text him for a week and then the rest is history. Kyle's Perspective: Jane always impressed me. She had this perfect balance of strength and confidence, mixed with a playful, free-spirited side that was impossible to ignore. I' d always admired her from a distance - never too far, but never quite close enough. Throughout college, Jane and I kind of grew up alongside each other. Not together, but always in each other' s orbit. Maybe we'd exchange a quick “Hey” in passing, share a laugh, or joke around with mutual friends, but that was usually the extent of it. It wasn't until the final semester of my college career- call me a procrastinator - that I realized it was time to change that. After seeking advice from her friends and gauging the situation, I finally gathered the courage to speak up and put my feelings on the table. A few weeks later, at one of Jane' s get-togethers, I saw my chance. When she briefly stepped out of the main room, I made up some lame excuse to follow her. It wasn't subtle. I wasn't subtle. I think I was just desperate to get it out. I probably startled her a little. I told her how I felt, trying to be honest without overthinking it. Her response was neutral- “um Okay, wow...Okay, I'll text you!”. Not only did I manage to convince her to text me, but I also somehow talked her into enduring a year of long distance and then moving all the way to Texas. And, against all odds, the final achievement was her agreeing to marry me. We started officially dating in November of 2022. A week after we made it official, we took a trip to Houston, Texas to find Kyle an apartment and explore the town where he would start his full-time job after graduation. Kyle graduated in December of 2022 and just like that we jumped right into an 800mi, long distance, relationship. We talked on the phone each evening and had virtual date nights often. After a year of long distance, I (Jane) finally graduated in December 2023, got a job and moved to Texas where we have spent the last year+, navigating a new city and lifestyle together! We got engaged on November 16, 2024, during a day trip to College Station, Texas. We needed a day out of the Houston chaos, so Kyle bought tickets to the Texas A&M football game. We got lunch, enjoyed the atmosphere and just relaxed. After walking around campus, we stopped to sit down and revel in the peace. We were sitting in a secluded corner of campus, and he suggested we take a photo. It was, in fact, not a timer-cam photo but a video that captured the proposal!! He managed to catch me completely off guard, I said yes, jumped up and down, and then started crying. We have had an absolute blast reflecting on how we have grown and how we will continue to grow together. This is such a special season of life that we cannot wait to share with all our friends and family. Thank you for taking the ride with us!! Tons of love from The Future Mr. and Mrs. Greenwald!
