Maid of Honor
Fiona and I met on the first day of our dental school orientation. We became fast friends since then, and she was my dental school twin during those four years. Our other friend (Chris Lo, DDS), Fiona, and I always made time for each other and had fun despite our hectic school schedule. She made such a huge impact on my life, like influencing me to like Justin Bieber's music and Canada Dry Ginger Ale. She is someone I can always turn to any time.
Bridesmaid
Ji and I met during our first week of dental school orientation and became friends so quickly. Her positivity and optimism lifted my spirit when dental school was becoming difficult. She is my go-to dessert date person even though we are both at high caries risk. Even after graduating, we stayed in touch. I relocated to the same state she is in, and I can't wait to make more memories with her!
Bridesmaid
Vanessa and I met at Georgia Tech, and we both majored in Biochemistry. We formed a study group together (Chris and Aurelia included) and helped each other out along the way. We used to stay up all night studying for our exams and writing lab reports. It is not something she and I want to do again, but it was a fond memory looking back on it. She and Aurelia are my go-to boba and Korean BBQ friends whenever Chris and I visit home.
Bridesmaid
Aurelia and I met at Georgia Tech, and we both majored in Biochemistry. She was part of our usual study group, and she was always willing to help and contribute to the group. She is such a positive, happy, and approachable person. I am lucky to have a friend like her. She, along with Vanessa, is my go-to boba and Korean BBQ buddy. She always knows all the latest hot desserts spots in Atlanta!
Best Man
Ishaan and I met at Georgia Tech in Dr. Cox’s inorganic chemistry class. His hard-working and motivated nature made him a natural fit as a study group member. Several study sessions later, we learned each other’s interests and became fast friends. Ishaan has always been a loyal friend, one whom I know I can depend on when needed. My only hope is that one day he learns that carbon can only have four bonds.
Groomsman
Yiming joined Joshua Chappie’s lab at Cornell University as an undergraduate student under my supervision. After graduating from Cornell, he accepted a position at Rockefeller University as a graduate student. We stayed in touch and often hung out to cook some Chinese food or to enjoy some tasty hot pot and bubble tea in Flushing. The image of Yiming hauling his 30-inch suitcase around New York City to transport groceries is forever etched in my memory.
Groomsman
Carl joined Joshua Chappie’s lab at Cornell University as a graduate student one year after me, so naturally, we were doomed to each other’s company. This wasn’t all of nothing, however, as we had each other to sympathize over Josh’s shenanigans. Although most of our relationship was isolated to the laboratory, Carl’s cynical humor and vast knowledge of all useless things always found a way to make me laugh and entertained.
Groomsman
Ed and I met at Cornell during his rotation in our lab. Although he betrayed me and joined the lab next door, we frequently chatted over lunch together. We eventually ended up as roommates for two years during which I enabled him to adopt his two kittens, Dean and Moose, and his husky, Cass. He has always remained a loyal friend, scientific colleague, and fellow animal lover.
