Things To Do

We love the fun friendly energy and wonderful mix of Texas charm, authentic Mexican eats and cultural highlights. If you know us, you know how much we love a walkable city. Enjoy some of our favorite spots while visiting the blue part of Texas.

San Antonio River Walk

849 East Commerce Street, San Antonio, TX 78205
, (210) 227-4262

Start at the Pearl end of the River Walk and make your way down to the rambunctious fun end of the walk. Feel free to pick up an ice cold bevvy to keep you hydrated on your stroll (yes I mean margarita). Pass through the Hyatt Regency to get straight to the Alamo.

The Park at Pearl

312 Pearl Parkway, San Antonio, TX 78215
, (210) 212-7260

There are so many wonderful things to eat, drink, view and plenty of spots for photo opps here! Start your day at the Pearl where they offer weekly farmers markets. Don't forget to pop into the Emma hotel and sink into their sprawling library for a good read.

Paramour at The Phipps

102 9th Street, San Antonio, TX 78215
, (210) 340-9880

Amazing decor, very old glamour meets Moet and Chandon vending machine. Take some photos here worthy of post cards and try one of their expertly concocted bevvies. There is outdoor seating, neon signs aplenty, and references to old Hollywood and the likes of some of our favorite stars.

The Alamo

300 Alamo Plaza, San Antonio, TX 78205
, (210) 225-1391

Do you know what happened at the Alamo? Did you know at one point it served as a hospital? Or that members of the clergy and nuns ruled these grounds? How much do you really know about Davey Crocket? What were the dates that Texas claimed fame to being an independent COUNTRY? Learn all the things and don't forget to remember the Alamo.

Mi Tierra Cafe y Panaderia

218 Produce Row, San Antonio, TX 78207
, (210) 225-1262

My grandmother always has us pick up authentic Mexican sweets for her specifically from this bakery when we are lucky enough to visit SA. Do you know about camote? Neither did we. However, since my grandmother, Justin and I have now looped you into this special treat you can be one of those in the Torreon loop (the place in Mexico where my grandmother and great-grandmother hail from).

Pinkerton's Barbecue

107 West Houston Street, San Antonio, TX 78205
, (210) 983-0088

This is the place to get brisket in San Antonio. It isn't open every day so be sure to check online before you go. Please do go, and enjoy a pound of lean brisket in our honor.

McNay Art Museum

6000 North New Braunfels Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78209
, (210) 824-5368

Reminds me of old Barnes original collection (in his home before Philly relocated all his works to the new modern Barnes location steps away from the Philadelphia Museum of Art). Absolutely charming collection with a nod to all that is mission style.

Caliente Hot Glass

1411 North Hackberry, San Antonio, TX 78208
, (210) 504-9244

Like Murano, Italy, but San Antonio. We fell in love with glass work after seeing the exquisite artistry of Dale Chihuly. Ever since, we have been trying to achieve that level of glass blowing skill. At Caliente you can have you hand at this fine art form. Its hot, so don't get burned! (And please always wear eye protection).

Five & Dime

512 River Walk Street, San Antonio, TX 78205
, (210) 212-4825

A not inconsequential number of songs pay tribute to this institution. "Find love and Coca-Cola at the Five & Dime"

For all the days along the way
