Things To Do

South Bend is home to the University of Notre Dame, and so much more. Whether you're looking to fill some time between the wedding Mass and the reception or are hoping to plan a full-fledged vacation while in town, we lay out some of our favorite places to eat, drink, and visit here in the South Bend area.
University of Notre Dame

University of Notre Dame

Notre Dame, IN

Notre Dame is near and dear to both of our hearts: Jacqueline teaches here, Jonathan went to ND for undergrad, and so many of our fondest memories together have taken place on campus. We recommend: -saying some prayers at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart -lighting a candle at the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes -walking around St. Mary's and St. Joseph's lakes, and through North, South, and God Quad -visiting Dillon Hall, where Jonathan lived during his four years on campus, and the Eck Hall of Law, where Jacqueline is a beloved faculty member -and, if you're a football fan, stopping by the home of the famed Fighting Irish, Notre Dame Stadium.

Rohr’s

Rohr’s

1399 North Notre Dame Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617

The hotel bar at Notre Dame. We went on our first date here, and it's still our favorite place to get a drink on campus!

Mishawaka Riverwalk and Biergarten

Mishawaka Riverwalk and Biergarten

North Spring Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544

A beautiful stretch of trails and parks along the St. Joseph River in the heart of Mishawaka, aka, "The Princess City." The riverwalk is easily accessible right from our church, so stopping by after Mass for a refreshing drink at the city's own biergarten is definitely advisable!

Potawatomi Zoo

Potawatomi Zoo

500 South Greenlawn Avenue, South Bend, IN 46615

Feed giraffes, catcall the lions, and get up close and personal with a very wise and wizened red panda.

The Exchange

The Exchange

112 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, IN 46601

This bank-turned-cocktail bar is the site of our third date--which was followed by a walk along the St. Joseph River, during which we were nearly mauled to death by a very angry goose.

Fiddler's Hearth

Fiddler's Hearth

127 North Main Street, South Bend, IN 46601

A local legend. Stop by for a pint and some live Irish music.

Jesús Latin Grill & Tequila Bar

Fantastic cuisine from all over Latin America, right here in Mishawaka.

Whitewater rafting, right in the heart of South Bend!

South Bend Farmers Market

A year round affair, the South Bend Farmers Market has a great selection of fresh foods and handmade crafts.

Raclin Murphy Museum of Art

Got an itch to get out on the fairways? Why not play 9 holes on one the Midwest's best public golf courses, across the street from Notre Dame.

Studebaker National Museum
