Travel

We’re so excited to celebrate with you in Galveston! Here are a few tips to help with any travel and accommodation planning.

Travel Note

Getting There

Whether you’re joining us from nearby or traveling from out of town, we’re so grateful you’ll be with us in Galveston. For those driving, Galveston is easily accessible from the Houston area and surrounding parts of Texas. If you’re flying, we recommend arriving at Houston Hobby Airport (HOU), which is about a 45-minute drive to Galveston.

Travel Note

Where to Stay

We recommend staying in Galveston so you can fully enjoy the celebration without worrying about travel back to Houston. We’ll be staying at The Tremont House in the heart of the Strand district, but there are several great options along the Seawall as well. We've shared a few hotel recommendations below of places where we have stayed in the past. Larger groups might enjoy renting through AirBnB or VRBO.

Flight

William P. Hobby Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport

For those flying in, the most convenient airport is Houston Hobby Airport (HOU), about 45 minutes to Galveston. Rental cars are readily available at the airport, and Uber or Lyft are also easy options for getting to and from Galveston. (Rideshare options run approximately $75 to or from the island, depending on demand at the time.) George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is the main international airport in Houston. It is located 68 miles from Galveston.
