Where we had our first date! A classic old New York bar with great burgers and martinis. Right on Atlantic Ave. in Cobble Hill near Brooklyn Heights. No reservations necessary. You can walk along the promenade in Brooklyn Bridge Park after for views of Manhattan.
Where we celebrated the night we got engaged! A very cozy winter spot. The best pancakes for brunch and chocolate cake for dessert at dinner. We recommend making a reservation here in advance as it can be hard to get a table. After, you can walk through Dumbo for a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline.
Handmade pasta and delicious Italian cooking in our neighborhood, Park Slope. A block away from Prospect Park. Make a reservation in advance :)
Check out TodayTix or TKTS for discounted Broadway shows. Catch a Saturday matinee before the reception or a Sunday matinee before you leave the city! We especially love Maybe Happy Ending, Buena Vista Social Club, and Hadestown.
Spend an afternoon exploring museums on the Upper East Side. We recommend starting at the Met. Just a short walk away is the Neue Galerie, showcasing early 20th-century German and Austrian art. Then, visit The Frick Collection, currently housed in the Frick Madison, with its exceptional collection of Old Masters. Stop for a stroll through Central Park in between!
Jackson Heights is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country (over 167 languages are spoken there!), making it the perfect place to explore and eat your way through. Our favorite spots to hit include Angel (Indian), Arepa Lady (Colombian), Lhasa Fast Food (Nepalese Momos), Mariscos El Submarino (tacos), Fuska House (Bengali) — but we recommend just popping into different places!
No-frills fish market and restaurant where you hand-pick your seafood and have it grilled or fried to order. While you're in the area, take a walk to the Noguchi Museum or Astoria Park for stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and the East River.
We think this is the best dim sum brunch in the city. In Brooklyn's Chinatown, Sunset Park. Expect a line so the earlier the better. Arrive starving for endless soup dumplings and can't miss black sesame balls for dessert.
One of our very favorite meals in the city. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Make a reservation well in advance as it can be hard to get a table.
We love the Red Hook Tavern for lunch and afterwards walking along the water for stunning city views, wandering into vintage stores, and of course dessert at Steve's Key Lime Pies.
