We're getting married!

Jack and I first crossed paths on Hinge in September 2023. In one of his photos, I noticed my good friend Alex Curran, and immediately thought, Alex! How have I never met this cute friend of yours? Jack and I ended up chatting about how we both knew Alex. But at the time, I was feeling discouraged with dating —admittedly—I stopped responding. I just didn’t want to have talk. To be fair, Jack later told me, “Jamie, I wasn’t going to ask you out the second we matched. That would’ve seemed desperate and rushed.” Which… fair enough. Now for the fun part. It was October 7th, 2023. My good friend Izi and her now-husband, Ders, were hosting a housewarming party at their new South End apartment in Boston. Before heading over, I was grabbing a drink with my sister and my roommate when I got a text from Izi and Ders: “Jack Lu is coming tonight.” My heart dropped. I was instantly nervous, excited, and wishing I’d worn something a little cuter. When Jack walked into the party, I swear it was love at first sight. We quickly realized that we complimented each other, the free-spirited California girl meets the ambitious, no-nonsense East Coast guy. All night we kept catching each other’s eyes, and he was such a breath of fresh air—kind, calm, curious, genuinely interesting, laughing at my jokes, and just the sweetest person. It sounds dramatic, but when you know, you really do know. After that night, we hung out almost every day. Three weeks later, he asked me to be his girlfriend. Early on, I remember thinking he was the biggest catch and would make the most incredible husband. And now, in less than a year, he will be my husband.
