Cathedral of St. Tommaso Apostolo

This cathedral houses the relics of Saint Thomas the apostle.

Rent Bikes or E-Bikes

Ortona has miles and miles of coastline pathways, paved for walking, biking, running etc. There are multiple vendors at the port area to choose from. It’s just a 40 km bike ride from the port of Ortona to Vasto! Lol This pathway is called Costa dei Trabocchi www.italia.it/en/abruzzo/things-to-do/costa-dei-trabocchi

Walk the orientale

Grab a gelato & enjoy the views with the locals.

Beaches

Ortona has stunning beaches and coastline. There are public beaches, as well as hotels in the area and beach clubs. We have a cabana rented for getting together during the week of the wedding! Most restaurants are only open during the daytime hours. Rent paddleboards, kayaks, and paddleboats for extra fun!

Historic Center - The Corso

Grab a coffee, sweets, or an aperitive and walk the pedestrian way. Lots of restaurants & shops here.

Eat arrosticini

This is an Abruzzo (local) food that must be tried! Sheep grilled to perfection on skewers, on a special grill.

Eat at a trabocco

Traditional ancient fishing machines consisting of a wooden platform built on stilts over the sea, connected to the shore by a walkway. Reservations are needed.

Eat at Kitchenetta

Located just outside Ortona. Owned by Christian and Alessandra (Fabio’s brother and sister-in-law).

Grab a Slice at Pizza Shock

Just a few blocks from the Corso, pizza by the slice, owned by Fabio’s brother Massimo (world pizza champion).

Excellent Tour Company

There is a tour operator that we use regularly named Majallando, where you can canoe, horseback ride, boating, hiking and a variety of other excursions, for a minimal fees.
