How We Met

1.14.16, Jamaica Plain MA

Turns out online dating works - thanks OKCupid! Brad was the one who first wrote to Jamie, which we now celebrate as "happy I messaged you day." But being the no-nonsense woman that she is, Jamie was the first to suggest we find a time to meet in person. Our first date was dinner and drinks at Dogwood Cafe, our second date was at the Boston Auto Show, and the rest is history in the making!

The Proposal

2.19.18, Portland ME

After a long weekend in Maine with friends, the couple was driving to Portland for a dinner reservation at Fore Street; a favorite of Brad's, and one where Jamie was feeling ill the last time they attempted to go. The dinner reservation had been set for months, and was initially unrelated to the events to come. The ring, which was stashed in the center car console, was almost discovered by Jamie while searching for her phone charger on the drive to dinner. With a brisk slam of the console, Brad said he would get the charger, knowing that the alternative would spoil the surprise to come. Upon arrival in Portland, Brad suggested they go for a walk before dinner. He had been searching for the best spot to propose but still had yet to figure it out. The only thing he knew is that they both liked Portland and this location felt right. He suggested a walk to Grace, an old methodist church which was converted into a restaurant years ago, a favorite spot for Jamie. So the couple started up the hill towards Grace. At the top of the hill, Jamie CLAIMS, that Brad was breathing weird. On record, this cannot be confirmed. They walked toward Grace to "take a look at the outside" since the restaurant was closed that day. Brad suggested a picture in front of the church's iconic red doors, and asked Jamie to turn around. Fumbling with the ring box that was hidden in his back pocket, Brad got down on one knee and asked Jamie to turn around. She saw the ring and proclaimed "ARE YOU SERIOUS!?" To the response of "Yes I am." Brad did then properly ask Jamie to marry him, to which she said "of course."
