Once upon a time on Madison, Jamie and Avi met as coworkers at the premiere electronic medical record software behemoth, Epic. Avi had recently moved from Tucson, Arizona, and the two started on the same day, February 2nd 2015. It was the following weekend, at a party for the new hires, when they finally laid eyes on each other. They instantly connected and proceeded to have a lengthy conversation about polymerase chain reaction, and the rest is basically history. They shared a first kiss at (regrettably) State Street Brats, shared a first date on Valentines day at Swagat in Middleton (highly recommended), and moved in with each other after a mere 6 months of dating.

Over the 4th of July, 2018, Jamie and Avi took a trip to California. The first stop was half moon bay, where they were to meet up with close friends, Chloe and Peter. Before this, however, Avi convinced Jamie to take a hike with him on the Purisima Ridge Trail in the hills over looking the ocean. The trail was relatively empty, and by the time they reached the end they were alone. It was at this moment that Avi took Jamie by the hands and recited a poem that he wrote for her (until this moment, Jamie had frequently complained about how Avi never wrote her a poem, despite his joy of the hobby). Jamie had noticed Avi acting weird that day, and knew immediately what this meant. Avi preceded to get down on a knee and propose, and through happy tears, Jamie agreed to the terms of the engagement. The two then hiked back and drove down to the bay where they took photos and shared a celebratory beer with their friends. That night, all around the country, fireworks could be seen in celebration of their engagement. over the next several days they visited Avi's family in California and went on a white water rafting trip with his cousin, and each only fell out of the boat once.

After putting up with Epic for quite long enough, the two decided to move on with their lives. Jamie was accepted to medical school at Rush, and they moved down to Chicago where they lived with their friends Gaby and Matt in the south loop. Avi continued to work remotely for Epic for another year, but was feeling increasingly left out because all of his roommates were in grad school. He then decided that he, too, wanted to be a starving student again. He applied to grad programs in Chicago and was accepted to a masters program in biomedical engineering at Northwestern. The two are currently working hard on their degrees and recently moved in with Chloe in Wicker Park.
