Answer

Contact Rosa or Jim at this email: thegilbertswedding@gmail.com

Question

What is the dress code for women?

Answer

Women typically wear floor length dresses to weddings in the DR. Although this is recommended, it is definitely not required. Cocktail dresses are fine, but we would definitely suggest wearing something that falls on the dressier side of things!

Question

What is the dress code for men?

Answer

In the Dominican Republic, men usually wear white long sleeve "chacabanas" (or guayabera shirts) to weddings. They are the tropical version of suits. This is what we would encourage our male guests to wear, along with a bowtie. Slacks and formal shoes are usually paired with these dress shirts. You can find white long sleeve chacabanas for sale here: https://www.amazon.com/Cubavera-Sleeve-Linen-Guayabera-Bright/dp/B003S2DPX6/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=chacabanas&qid=1626142840&sr=8-7

Question

What about covid?

Answer

Covid tests are not required to enter the Dominican Republic from the US. However, to return to the US, you are required to obtain a negative test result prior to your trip home. Usually hotels are very good at helping their American guests with setting up appointments for testing.

Question

Do I need a passport to travel to the DR?

Answer

Definitely. However, if you are a US citizen you do not need a visa. If you are planning on coming but do not have a passport or must renew one, we strongly suggest you act swiftly in obtaining one. The process is slow, and any delay in getting your passport could prevent you from traveling. Please contact us if you need assistance in this process!
