This museum is focused on the history of the subway system in New York and is walking distance from the hotel. The coolest thing about it is that the museum is in an old subway station so look for the subway stairs leading down to the museum or you might miss it! You can see all the old subway cars and ads from each era! We even rode on one of them at the holidays with James's parents!
Getting to the promenade is a beautiful walk through historic Brooklyn Heights with some amazing brownstones. Once you get to the promenade you'll have a fantastic view of the city and the harbor! Part of this area is known at the "fruit bowl" because a number of streets are named after fruits!
If you are looking for a good walk, the hotel is near the walkway to the Brooklyn Bridge (as the hotel name indicates). There is a long ramp that will lead up to the bridge but there is also a stairway about halfway up the ramp if you want to get off and walk around under the bridge!
There are some great spots to stop and get a snack (or drink!), snap some photos, and ride the carousel if you feel like it!
Great day trip if you're staying for a long weekend! The ferries leave from the southern point of Brooklyn Bridge Park frequently and there are restaurants, great history tours, and bike/surrey rentals on the island! Great views of Lady Liberty and Lower Manhattan!
They are only open in warm months but this is a great stop if you're walking down the Brooklyn Bridge Park or before/after you visit Governors Island. A bar and restaurant on a docked sailboat with great drinks and food!
They have a great tour and tasting! Lots of great info about the history of liquor and distilleries in New York along with interesting whiskies (and a cute bar).
If you're looking to get out for a bite, this is one of our favorite spots in the area! Great cocktails and food, plus they always have oysters!
Great Mexican spot with amazing views of the city!
Where we had our first date and James proposed! Amazing cocktails and great small plates! Leigh's favorite drink the Minotauro, a milk punch!
A Michelin star restaurant that's very unassuming and relaxed, one of our favorite spots to take visitors! Make a reservation ahead of time!
Our favorite spot in Chinatown and just on the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge!
