For those of you who don’t know, James and I have been together for three years now. It all started when James and I were in our last semester of high school. We had classes together previously, but never became more than acquaintances. That is, until he showed up at my house one day after school. I was surprised that he was here; Nathan (my brother) greeted him and they went on their merry way to play games. Little did I know, they were mutual friends and played Minecraft together all the time. So, James started coming over almost every day because he had no responsibilities and all the time in the world. Over the course of about a month or so, James, Nathan, and I would go out to dinner 3 times together and hang out and get to know each other. It became clear very quickly that we had a spark. So, I did what any girl does and hinted very obviously without saying it that he should ask me out. So, James asked me to go to a local antique store with him and that was our first date. From then on, we went on more dates and just kept getting to know each other. It wasn’t long before we knew we wanted to date exclusively. We were able to experience our last few months of high school together; from prom to graduation, then to starting college in the fall. We both never felt like a university was the right path for us, so we stayed home, went to a local college, and worked hard to find our own paths while growing closer to each other. James became a woodworker and I became a hairdresser. And in August of 2024 on an extremely hot and muggy day in Charleston, James proposed. Although we are young and some may even say we’re rushing, we couldn’t feel more ready to make our love and commitment to each other fully public and official in the eyes of God and before all of our friends and family. We hope to see you at the wedding!
