How we met

The nerd & the misfit

We met the first day of Estrella's Freshman year of Highschool. During 2nd period Biology the teacher told everyone to wait for their assigned seating. Of course James walked in last. As soon as Estrella saw James she couldn't help but be infatuated. She started "praying" and telling God "please let me sit next to him, I'll do anything". As fate would have it they sat next to each other 2nd period & in 5th period French. Even with this luck they were never more than surface level friends. They would talk about the classes they had together, James would walk her to class (even when she had a boyfriend..) but nothing more. It wasn't until 2 years after he graduated and it was her first year at CAL State Fullerton that their love story really started; at a check out stand of the neighborhood Albertsons....

The Proposal

Head over heels in Seattle

We've been together 9 years. We decided to go visit our friends (a husband & wife duo) in Seattle, WA. They offered to help me with the proposal and the photographer arrangement. The weather kept calling for rain on Sunday and that was the day of proposal! After spending our morning and afternoon with our friends that day we split ways and hung out in our hotel till it was time to head to the Japanese Garden. When we arrived to the garden we realized we forgot our umbrellas! We walked in hoping that there wouldn't be any rain but as soon as we stepped foot into the garden we heard thunder. Star & I looked at each other and we laughed it off hoping we'd have time to circle the garden a couple times. After noticing our friends were there and getting confirmation that the photographer was ready we walked over to the Koi pond. I went down on one knee and popped the question. Star was speechless and I was ecstatic. After nodding her head yes while trying to hold back tears I had to remind her to give me her hand so I could put the ring on it. After snapping a few photos it started to rain.
